Popular belief has it that Anastasia Romanov escaped the assassination when the rest of the Imperial Family was murdered during the Russian Revolution. The grandchildren of a South African woman claimed that their deceased grandmother was the Grand Duchess of Russia. She was presumed to be Anastasia.
