Targeted Skills & Competencies: Proven experience with and deep knowledge of relevant systems Ability to identify and troubleshoot difficulties or technical conflicts within key systems Strong communication skills, and able to provide complex support to non-technical business users Understanding of how to protect and/or restore critical systems in the event of an adverse event

 

Expected Responsibilities: Develops, implements, and manages standards for corporate software solutions (e.g., Tivoli, Marimba, etc.), hardware (e.g., desktops, notebooks, PDAs, etc.) and servers (Windows and Unix-based) Provides 3rd level support to IT teams Supports migration efforts to new platforms or solutions Provides engineering and technical support to business application development groups Assesses hardware, software, tools, applications, etc., to support business operations

 

Tasks and Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities (Role): • UNIX System Administration for Linux Operating Systems and Intel hardware. • Plan and Support corporate Linux patching initiative to support corporate internal audit.  Build Linux/Intel infrastructure on an as needed basis. • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) on systems problem resolution activities and tools. • Develop partnerships with engineering, operations, and application development groups. • Report on progress to technical lead, project manager and technology management.

 

Suggested Experience & Qualifications: Work Experience (Required): • 8+ years experience of Linux / Intel administration (OS/hardware) • 4+ years experience with shell scripting Working Knowledge (Nice to Have): • VMware virtualization • Systems management technologies (e.g. Tivoli Framework/related products) • LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols (e.g. routers, switches, TCP/IP) • SAN/NAS technologies (preferably Hitachi, NetApp) • Database technologies (e.g. Oracle) • UNIX high availability (HACMP, Veritas clustering) General skills (Required): • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Able to produce technical documentation • Ability to work on a team or independently in a fast paced dynamic environment • Willing to write detailed documentation and adhere to corporate standards/change management policies • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required • Professional certifications (e.g. RHEL) are a plus .
