Hi All, we are looking for an User Interface Designer / Developer – Job Description

 

Location Montvale, NJ

Contract: 6 Months

 

We are looking for a user interface designer/developer with a strong portfolio, who has experience taking production-ready interface designs and implementing them with HTML/CSS and/or XAML in a Microsoft environment. The ideal candidate would also be able to translate a click-through prototype into a working interface following pre-set design guidelines. The user interface designer/developer must be able to identify user interface or usability issues and provide creative ways to solve the problem. In addition, the user interface designer/developer must have a strong ability to produce concepts, think rapidly for prototyping purposes, have a passion for web usability and be knowledgeable of interface design for an array of programming languages. We are not asking that you be fluent in these programming languages, but it is important that you know what is possible with ASP.NET/C#, AJAX, JQuery and Java. Working for the Tax Technology Practice at KPMG, you will be involved with designing and developing interfaces for cutting edge tax applications that have internal and external experiences. The ideal candidate will have most of the qualities we are looking for, will be outspoken in a team environment, will have strong communication skills as they would have many discussions with business analysts and offshore development teams, can articulate interface ideas easily and can work independently with little direction. Most importantly, we are looking for someone that can take direction from a senior level staff person and run with it.

 

We need someone who is:

•           Able to hand-code XAML

•           Able to hand-code or has a solid understanding of valid XHTML and CSS

•           Capable of developing pre-approved designs and designing new interfaces

•           Passionate about the user interface and user experience

•           A creative, lateral thinker who can identify issues and articulate solutions

•           A quick thinker for prototyping purposes

•           Able to produce results for a fast-paced, collaborative project

•           Knowledgeable of back-end languages such as ASP.NET/C#, AJAX, JQuery and Java

•           Comfortable working in Visual Studio 2010 environment

•           Able to take direction from senior level staff and run with it

•           Able to communicate effectively with Business Analysts and offshore development teams

 

 

Must have:

•           Proven experience in user interface design, usability and user experience

•           Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Visual Studio 2010 and familiarity with a wide variety of other graphics related software

•           Hand coding experience with XHTML and CSS

•           Knowledge of Microsoft Silverlight or Adobe Flash

 

Definitely an asset:

•           Ability to hand-code XAML for Silverlight in Microsoft Expression Blend 4

•           Working knowledge and/or hands on experience with ASP.NET/C#, AJAX, JQuery and Java

•           An understanding of the principles of information architecture, navigation design, interaction design

Be prepared to show examples of your work that clearly demonstrate your abilities. You will need to describe your roles and responsibilities in the development of past projects. Be prepared to demonstrate your ability to write code without an IntelliSense editor such as those found in popular web development programs.
