Need Data Project Manager – BI Solutions Modeler (5-7 Years)

This role will manage the delivery of all projects related to the enterprise data/business intelligence platform at our Commercial P&C Insurance client in Alpharetta, GA. The ideal candidate will have at least five years years experience managing enterprise data projects working with data architects, data modelers, data warehousing teams, business analysts and business stakeholders to build large scale, complex data centric solutions. Having a PMP is a definite plus, but having functional managerial experience over a data architecture, data administration or data warehousing group is highly valued as well. Demonstrated ability to elicit accurate and complete business requirements and translate them into technology-based solutions is essential.
Skill Requirements
- Ideally, experience in a Global Insurance/Reinsurance company with a Finance, Claims, UW and/or Policy Admin data management/reporting background but candidates with no insurance experience will be considered
- 5-7+ years experience as a project manager within an enterprise business intelligence environment or program management experience overseeing highly technical data-related projects such as an enterprise data warehouse or a complex operational data store environment
- Excellent organizational skills with a commitment to meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Strong facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to define data use and presentation requirements and conduct data modeling design reviews with project teams. Experience in collecting and validating business requirements
- Experience working on implementations of Insurance applications and integrating them with other insurance and finance applications would be a significant bonus
- BA/BS (preferably in Computer Science, Business or Information Management or another quantitative discipline)
- MBA or MS from a reputable school is a significant plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary, international, dynamic team environment
- Strong knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance business data and related statutory (US and European GAAP and Stat) reporting is a plus
- This position must have a positive attitude, good verbal and written skills and be able to work independently with little to no direction
Responsibilities
- Manage all projects/programs related to the use of enterprise data – EDW, Data Hub, ERP implementations, Application Integrations, Analytics, Reporting and Business Intelligence related initiatives
- Participation in the PMO processes to assess and manage new/changes to the enterprise data architecture and new applications feeding data to the EDW from IT development projects and the downstream impact thereof
- Responsibility for ensuring data feeds and reconciliations are being completed in a timely and accurate basis by IT and business staff
- Working with the Data Architecture team from a business perspective, including establishing prioritization for projects, development of project plans, sequencing of various projects within a program and providing guidance to the technical team on deliverables
- Working with key business personnel including communication of project statuses, setting of priorities, establishing guidelines around data quality, setting up procedures for handling data changes and making sure the data infrastructure is operating to meet the business needs
- Working with IT upper management to prioritize projects and programs
- Working with business executives to prioritize projects and programs to meet the needs of the business
- Communicate status, issues, risks and progress of all data related projects to both the business and IT with the appropriate amount of detail
- Work with the business to help them understand what is needed so IT can successfully meet their requirements
- Assists the SVP of the PMO with the development/production of global management reports as required
Additional Bonus Skills
- Conceptual understanding of transaction and information systems, data warehouses, dimensional modeling, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycle as well as ETL.
- Understanding of Metadata, Cross Referencing Data Quality, and Data retention concepts.
- Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, and tools of data management such as data dictionaries, data warehousing, data mining, defining metadata management approaches, defining governance processes and data standardization processes
- Knowledge of Data modeling frameworks (IBM IAA, ACORD, etc.)
- Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Architecture is desirable
