Education:
Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent work experience or 7+ years work and /or industry related experience.
Experience:
7+ years of detailed hands on troubleshooting experience of a complex large scale enterprise application server environment with a minimum of 3 years in an ISP like environment.
Expert hands-on knowledge of a specific JAVA application server product (ie.. Weblogic
Working knowledge of LDAP directory services, routing protocols, load balancing, web servers, including advanced HTTP/XML protocols plus JAVA configuration
In-depth knowledge of OSI layer 3-7, IP routing, TCP traffic analysis, application flows, switches, web servers & services, DHCP, DNS, Oracle, and IP Management
Strong understanding of QoS/DSCP infrastructure in support of VOIP services and products
Prior knowledge of major MSO (Multi-Service Operator) provisioning systems for video, high speed data services, and/or telephony a plus
Ability to mentor staff level Engineers through both structured and one-on-one training sessions
Ability to direct multiple resources on cross functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex systems issues
Well developed communications skills and customer-centric attitude
Solid understanding of application servers and services including JAVA based application server environments, UNIX applications services, load balancing and database technologies
Hands on knowledge of system and application level monitoring solutions such as Netcool, Concord, and Wily
Skills
Expectations:
Hands-on experience in several of the following technologies:
IP Networking protocols and systems including DHCP, DNS, TFTP, ToD, ARP, IP, TCP, UDP, SNMP
DOCSIS Cable modem technology
PacketCable Technology
IP subnet management
CORBA, JAVA, XML
LDAP Directory Servers
Sun/Solaris hardware/software platform
TCP/IP implementations
Cisco Hardware and IOS (routers, switches, CMTS)
Strong understanding of UNIX heavily weighted towards Solaris and LINUX
Ability to troubleshoot all other operating systems including all Windows operating systems and Macintosh computers
Programming skills in Perl, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, all UNIX Shell Scripting plus skills with web based embedding (HTML, PHP, etc.) desirable.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Outstanding interpersonal, oral, listening and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team or individual contributor role
Solaris/LINUX/UNIX Certification required
Cisco Hardware and IOS (routers, switches, CMTS) desirable
Work in a 24 x 7 environment
Leadership experience of a small to medium technical team on all day to day activities
Must have 7 years Docsis cable modem technolgy
