The Data warehouse Architect is responsible to work with other data architects in DW department to develop models to support individual applications, and ensure those models are consistent within the overall enterprise model. The Architect interacts with the business analysts, data analysts and project team members to understand the current operational data structures and enhance/create a relational database. The Data Architect must always consider both current (stated) requirements and future (unstated) direction. Having this perspective helps to ensure that the model can expand to correspond with the growth of the data.
Responsibilities:
Review current operational data structures.
Provide full-life cycle architectural guidance and ensure quality technical deliverables.
Serve as a data technical strategy expert and lead the creation of technical requirements and design deliverables.
Participate in defining overall data architectures for custom business applications.
Understand the business objectives and provide solutions that efficiently meet the objects in a timely manner with a focus on data integrity and quality.
Provide technical leadership to other members of the development team and project managers in a positive manner to deliver on-time and above standard applications for our clients.
Work with data base administrators to migrate complex large scale applications into system test and production environments.
Documenting Technical Requirements, Logical Design, Design Specifications or Approach and Define Transformations Rules.
Develops and reviews implementation plans and contingency plans.
Qualifications:
10-15 years of experience as a Data Architect in an enterprise-class setting.
Must possess very solid background in complex data modeling; experience with operational/transactional systems is required and experience with data warehousing/business intelligence is a plus.
Experience with globalization/localization required.
Must possess a good experience with dimensional data modeling and enterprise data modeling tools, preferably ERWin
Experience with full life cycle phase software development is required.
Deep understanding of data warehouse approaches, industry standards and industry best practices.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact with business users as well as technical staff.
Must possess skills to facilitate requirements gathering/analysis workshops.
Must possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, self-confidence.
Must have excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
