Job Description
Our client is looking for a Software Release Engineer to work on-site in Westlake, Texas!
The Software Release Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring effective, efficient and accurate source code and environment management. Candidate must possess strong process and technical skills with deep knowledge of information technology concepts, practices and procedures. Works closely with the development teams in maintaining and supporting many different applications simultaneously. Responsibilities include the following:
- Build and support process to ensure accurate check-in / check-out activities across a portfolio of applications using PVCS, Subversion, and Endevor toolsets.
- Manage multiple Test Environments by ensuring proper releases of software packages are deployed, documented and maintained across a portfolio of applications.
- Determine, document and enforce process and procedures for all developers to follow.
- Be subject matter expert to development teams in regards to source code management and environment builds.
- Develop, test and deploy automation of builds (as much as possible depending on technology stack of application).
- Design and maintain an end-of-life database for all technologies used within the portfolio cross-referenced by application and environment.
- Be liaison between vendors and corporate technology on any extended support requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- At least 7 years industry experience in a release engineering capacity
- Worked with development teams multiple times through major development cycles - end to end
- Experienced with industry best standards for release engineering
- Experienced with multiple OS platforms. Specifically, AIX, Mainframe and Windows
- Ability to work on many applications with many variables consistently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work closely with team-mates to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture.
- Commitment to the highest levels of quality and demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
