Position : Systems Engineer  (with Unix-Perl/PHP with 3-5 years exp)

Location : St.Louis, MO
Duration : 1-2 year (long-term)
Number of positions : 4

 

Description:

•Responsible for administering enterprise-wide Network Management Systems (NMS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases including support of Netcool, custom SNMP polling tools, Remedy, multiple vendor EMSs (Element Management Systems) Web Methods, etc./Administer applications supporting all company areas
•Installs, administers, configures and maintains NMS including operating systems and related software
•Provides 'on call' support to resolve NMS issues after normal business hours
•Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window)
•Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages
•Documents systems configurations and upgrades
•Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources
•Works with current templates and assist with the design and construct new templates
•Works with deployment and core service engineers to determine needs
•Sets up filters on data generated by monitors
•Generates reports on server and application availability and performance

Requirements:

3+ years of Perl Scripting experience
2+ years of experience with MySQL databases
1+ years of experience with Java
Familiar with UNIX and Linux Command Line tools
Familiar with developing and running SQL queries
Interface authoring using PHP
Experience with Internet protocols and interior/exterior routing protocols (SNMP, XML) and associated Network monitoring & management systems
Experience with Network Management Systems (NMS) support and troubleshooting
