Job Title: BI Developer ( SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 12 months plus
Min. 5 to 10 yrs. experience
Business Intelligence
· Assist in the design of databases and data marts that will support the BI solutions.
· Ability to create a conceptual database schema and turn it into a physical database design and fully understanding the data relationships based on requirements.
· Ensure the BI projects are delivered properly to meet the requirements of both business and IT.
· Build sound BI solutions to meet user requirements that consider system capacity, limitations and performance requirements
· Ability to integrate BI platforms and solutions into SharePoint interfaces in order to provide a simple and easy to use end user experience.
· Ensure that BI enhancements and system fixes meet intended business needs according to defined requirements
· Maintain and follow established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies for all BI projects
· Develop high level and detailed designs for assigned BI initiatives
· Prepare technical specifications from which BI platforms will be developed
· Develop and execute QA routines to ensure quality and performance requirements are met
· Assist in the planning and deployment of BI solution releases
· Inform manager and user community of progress, issues and concerns
Business Analysis
· Develop a strong understanding of business requirements; working with business users to define technical and process requirements
· Develop and document functional requirements for analyzed business needs
· Identify and recommend best approach to solve business issues
· Document business requirements and create detailed requirements for proposed solution changes. Analysis includes user requirements as well technology requirements.
· Strong interaction with end users and business sponsors required
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Training: Bachelors degree. Post graduate work, such as financial certification, or master's degree, preferred
Experience: 5+ years solid experience in Business Application Software design and development
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
· Technical skills:
· Business Intelligence – Microsoft Suite (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
· RDBMS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 – Integration into SharePoint (SSRS, SSAS) a plus
· .Net Development – C#
· Scripting: SQL required, Stored Procedures
· Investment industry experience preferred
· Strong data awareness and understanding required.
· Exceptional BI development skills.
· Strong business acumen and service orientation.
· Professional approach to work, including strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; innovative thinker and creative problem solver; ability to generate innovative solutions; makes decisions using thorough use of data and process, and the moves quickly to action
· Results-oriented; delivers results under difficult conditions and demonstrates balanced judgment under pressure; sets high performance for self
· Strong mediation skills to facilitate a constructive approach to dealing with conflict
· Effectively adapts to change; comfortable with complexity, ambiguity and change; models the behaviors and coaches others to embrace change
· Solid technology background, including an understanding of current technology concepts
· Strong work ethic
