Title: C++ Developer
Location: San Diego, CA
Length: 6 Months+

This position is for a software development engineer role within the Teradata BAR (Backup, Archive, Restore) team. The engineer will be engaged with the core development team with the responsibility of designing, coding, testing, documenting and delivering Teradata BAR Storage and utility software products that work with 3rd party backup applications. The successful candidate will work closely with the lead developer and other team members to create cross-platform solutions that will work with 3rd party BAR applications, Teradata Client Software and Teradata Database technology platform.
• Responsible for full software development lifecycle - application and API interface design, development and testing, database access, unit/integration testing using Agile Development techniques.
• Design and deliver products that meet specifications; with high standards in programming quality, style and organization
• Provide thought leadership on developing software that focuses on network and security solutions
• Communicate effectively with other engineers
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues
• Application performance tuning
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
• Strong working knowledge of C++ and C
• Working knowledge of socket programming and SSL
• Working knowledge in developing multi-threaded programs in a client-server environment
• Strong analytical abilities involving complex software in a parallel processing environment
• Experience with Agile software development
• Knowledge of Unix shell commands, database concepts and SQL
• Knowledge in profiling, performance analysis and tuning
• Problem solver, motivated self-starter, action and results oriented
• Knowledge of software engineering practices and metrics
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to internal processes
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic team environment
• Strong interpersonal and communications skill set
• Strong documentation skills
• Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years working experience in C++ programming
• 3+ years working experience in C programming
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with or knowledge of the design and construction of application interface software
• Experience with or knowledge of SSL and TCP/IP socket development
• Experience with or knowledge of Application Security design & development
Working knowledge with any Enterprise DBMS systems like Teradata, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.
