Role: Data Modeler

Employment Type: Contract

Location: Beaverton, OR

Duration: 1 year

Rate: Market

Target Start Date: Immediately

As a key member of the EDM (Enterprise Data Management) team, the Data Modeler position will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of enterprise data models and data structures within EDW environment (all layers).  

 

Responsibilities:

• Drive design of data structures within an EDW environment (all layers)

• Facilitate modeling sessions with SME's, BA's, and business users

• Conduct Model reviews with project team members

• Create Conceptual/Logical/Physical models for EDW staging and data integration

• Create Conceptual/Logical/Physical models for EDW analytics & reporting

• Drive creation of Enterprise view (integration) of data (Product, Customer, Location, etc…)

• Drive model management and version control of all data models.

• Facilitate creation/migration of data objects (DDL) across Development /QA/Production

• Reverse Engineer source system structures for EDW sourcing/landing

• Drive metadata capture through data modeling application (ERWin)

• Maintain the repository and exchange of metadata through the various EDW based tools (Teradata, Informatica, Cognos, etc…)

• Establish Standards, Guidelines, and Best Practices around data modeling effort

• Publish and communicate models to various IT and User based teams

• Develop data movement requirements/technical specifications into and across EDW layers

• Collaborate with BI team to create data structures for reporting

• Collaborate with ETL team to create data structures that facilitate data integration

• Collaborate with DBA team to perform volumetrics and optimize data structures for data integration and reporting.

• Participate in requirements definition, analysis, and design of EDW solutions

 

Skills:

Fluent in both 3NF and Dimensional modeling techniques and solutions

• Strong familiarity with reporting tools such as Cognos

• Strong familiarity with integration tools such as Informatica

Proficient with SQL and other database access tools

• Exposure to Apparel Retail solutions

Exposure to Master Data Management solutions

• Prior experiences as a Business/Systems Analyst

Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience).

• 5+ years experience using data modeling tools such as ERWIN or ER Studio

• 5+ years experience working with ERP data (JDE, SAP, etc…)

• 5+ years of SQL experience

• 5+ years working with large DBMS systems (Teradata, DB2, Oracle)
