Job Title

Systems Administrator - Tier 3 Role

Role Description:

• Supporting and managing servers in production, pre-production and integration environments.
• Providing application support for business critical applications, troubleshooting and resolving application issues.
• Working with engineering team to troubleshoot complex application issues, participate in planning & deploying new application releases.
• Installing Security patches to servers & performing password reset for service accounts.
• Renewing SSL certificate, website configuration and troubleshooting.
• Work on project tasks such as building new servers, server migration, upgrading to latest windows OS and upgrading IPAK level on servers, SQL upgrade, IIS installation & configuration.
• Troubleshooting basic network related issues and escalating to networking team and working towards resolution.
• Providing analysis and troubleshooting for Windows, IIS & network related issues.
• Working independently within established processes and procedures.
• Communicating problem resolution and additional information to customer groups, project team, and IT support groups.
• Contribute towards knowledgebase improvement.
• Use incident management tools such as UTS, MSE for Server Request (SR) tracking of open, in-process, and closed issues.
• Extended coverage outside of normal work hours is occasionally required.
• Strong written and verbal communications are required.
• Result oriented, takes ownership of the issue till resolution
• Should be process-oriented and be able to adapt to process changes in t
he operation
• Sensitive to SLAs/metrics and have clarity on responsibilities

Must Have Skills

Windows Server 2008/2003
• 4+ years of experience with windows administration & troubleshooting skills required.

IIS 7.0/6.0
• Knowledge of IIS 6.0 or 7.0, Installation, configuration, App Pools, SSL, managing web farms and troubleshooting skills are required.

Networking skills
• Troubleshooting network related issues.

SQL Server 2008

• SQL Server 2008 administration and troubleshooting knowledge will be an added advantage.

Others
• Knowledge of Load Balancing solutions such as BIGIP, WLBS, Application Center server.
• Knowledge of Monitoring tools such as SCOM, MOM or any other.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Experience with scripting concepts and techniques would be a strong plus such as VBScript or PowerShell.

Nice To Have Skills

• Familiar with any one Incident management system.
• ITIL / MOF
• Experience with enterprise knowledge base system (Example Primus).
• Previous Microsoft Project experience.

Day to Day Tasks:

Primary responsibility will be Application support and related infrastructure. Troubleshoot complex issues related to IIS, Windows & Network. Manage Servers in PROD, PPE & INT Environment. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application and/or servers. Work on application deployments. Owning and working on Server migrations and platform upgrade projects involving high business impact and executing migration with precision leading to zero to minimal downtime. Provide on call support on a rotation basis. Work on maintenance tasks such as Certificate renewal, password updates, security patching etc. Provide operational solutions to engineering team as and when needed. Work with partner teams and customers towards resolving issues.
