Title: Network Engineer

Location:  Boston, MA

Duration: 6 + Months

 

Must Have Certification: CCNA Certification

 

Job Responsibilities:

·         Provide second/third level technical support on a worldwide basis via phone, email, web and remote access to customer sites where Cisco Content, Load balancing, WAAS, and Video are deployed.

·         Determine methods and procedures for solving complex technical issues encompassing hardware, software and networking.

·         Function as technical lead for large customer accounts with multiple concurrent technical issues.

·         Formulate technical action plans for analyzing and resolving end-to-end solutions.

·         Generate clear and concise documentation in the form of case notes, technical tips and white papers.

·         Works on complex problems where analysis of situations requires in-depth fault analysis and troubleshooting skills.

·         Provide systems/product training.

·         Provide guidance & leadership to less experienced engineers.

·         Provides support on a world-wide basis.

Required Skills:

·         Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

·         5 – 7 years of total Networking exp.

·         2+ years IP Networking experience.

·         2+ years working knowledge of Networking industry, products and protocols.

·         Analyzer experience on Sniffer Pro, Etherreal or Server analyzer.

·         Web based protocols: ftp, http, ssl, tftp, rtp, telnet, and ssh.

·         Knowledge of port numbers the protocols operate on, iso/osi model, specific function of each layer from Ethernet, Routing and Switching plus the specific application (L4 to 7)

Title: Networking engineer

Location: North Carolina

Duration: 6 + months

 

Responsibilities:

·         Provides second/third level technical support for Carrier Services technologies to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other TAC engineers

·         Applies analytical skills and technical knowledge to solve product and network problems of moderate to high complexity.

·         Provides technology/product training and intellectual property material as required.

·         Acts as focal point for large account network problem resolution.

·         Effectively utilizes moderate to complex lab setups to recreate and solve problems.

·         Submits complete and correct bug reports in area of expertise

·         Interacts/collaborates across technology teams and development teams at peer level..

·         Works with Cisco's carrier services gear including Cisco Switches, Software, and Protocols.

·         Typically interfaces internally with CSEs, SEs, NCEs, and internal engineering departments.                                                       

Required Skills:

·         Working knowledge of TCP/IP, basic routing/switching, and network troubleshooting across Cisco platforms.

·         Minimum 2 years working knowledge of the networking industry, products and protocols.

·         Minimum 2 years of experience deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, debugging and administering several WAN technologies/protocols such as ISDN, DDR, POS, SONET, HSSI, HDLC, DSL, ATM, PPP, Frame Relay, T1, T3, VDPN, L2TP, QoS and SCE (deep packet inspection).

·         Ability to configure, analyze and troubleshoot highly complex networks.

·         Strong WAN knowledge as this position will primarily focus on supporting Cisco's WAN products.

·         Knowledge of WAN solutions and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex WAN networks.

·         Strong documentation skills--to be utilized for case management, knowledge capture, defect management and Trainings.

·         Excellent verbal communication skills--these skills are essential for this engineering role as most of the work being done is through the phone.

·         Very strong Problem Solving skills--will be utilized often as this position covers most WAN technologies.

·         Unix/Linux knowledge and shell scripting skills are a plus.

 

Certification:  CCIE desired.

Responsibilities:

·         Provides second/third level technical support for router architecture (both hardware and software) to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other TAC engineers via phone/email/fax consultation to independently troubleshoot & debug product problems.

·         Acts as a technical expert and provides support on a world-wide basis.

·         Typically interfaces internally with CSEs, SEs, NCEs, and internal engineering departments.

Required Skills:

·         Working knowledge of Networking industry, products and protocols.

·         Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

·         Proven crisis management skills and ability to handle critical customer issues/problems.

·         Able to determine problems and deliver known solutions with a high level of customer satisfaction.

·         Ability to determine root cause and resolution for previously unknown problems.

·         Works on problems of moderate to wide scope and moderate to high complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.

·         Successful at exercising judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action.

·         Good verbal and written communication skills.

·         CCIE desirable but not required.

·         C programming experience desirable.

·         BS in Computer Science recommended.

     Typically requires BS in CS or EE or equivalent plus 2-5 years related experience.
