Position: Java/DB Developer

Location: Jersey City, NJ

Duration: 6-12 Months

 

F2F is required

Job Description:

·         Work with the business and data analysts to evaluate data requirements, and propose optimal solutions and delivery approaches that meet those requirements.

·         Conduct additional data analysis as needed to support optimal solution.

·         Work with the development lead to recommend good design, coding and implementation practices.

·         Develop and implement the solution using Java/ETL (Unix/PERL scripting or Informatica) using good design standards and practices.

·         Work with the technology team and take responsibility for the timely implementation of the solution.

Experience Required:

·         Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL, databases, Unix, PERL or Informatica.

·         Prior experience with development/implementation at a major brokerage firm.

·         Must have experience in designing and developing highly scalable systems that will handle very large volumes of data globally.

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate with business analysts/data analysts and technology teams. 

Experience Preferred:

·         Experience in data warehouse development, OLAP tools.

·         Experience of working with the Compliance function within an Investment Bank.

·         Strong IT skills and background, especially in the financial services industry; comfortable with computer based tools, processes and workflows.

·         Experience in Fixed Income business.

·         Experience with Mantas and Business Objects a plus.

·         Experience in Java Technologies like Spring, Ajax, Hibernate and MQ is a big plus

Skills/Aptitude Required:

·         Experience in SQL server and Oracle.

·         Experience in UNIX, PERL, Autosys, and Java.

·         Quick learner; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to attend many tasks simultaneously, with frequently changing priorities.

·         Must be independent and creative in approach to problems and issues and proactive

·         Extremely organized, excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in documenting code releases.

·         Highly self-motivated with a confident "do the right thing" attitude.

·         Able to multi-task and prioritize a demanding and varied workload.

·         Work long hours when required, to communicate with groups in other regions

·         Ability to identify, appropriately escalate issues & risks & consider solutions.
