Job Title: Lead Oracle DBA (10-12 yrs)
Location: Princeton, NJ (ONLY LOCAL NEEDED)
Duration: 6 Months
Required Skills:
10-12 years of experience, with at least the last 5-7 years as Lead Oracle DBA on all aspects of Oracle Database Administration in a large/challenging database environment on Unix / Linux platform.
Experience supporting internet/web based database applications with heavy concurrent user volume.
Experience working on 10g/11g RAC database applications, Oracle TDE, OEM Grid control, RMAN.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good Linux Red hat knowledge and scripting is a plus.
Skilled in SQL statement tuning with detailed understating of AWR and StatsPack reports, database performance tuning.
Basic understanding of Connection pooling and middleware software like JBoss, JRun, Tom Cat, IBM Web sphere is desired.
Hands on Experience of implementing Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g database on UNIX and Linux platform is a must.
Willingness to work on-call DBA rotations in a 7x24 environment
Ability to perform professional level technical documentation and presentation.
Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers.
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
Proficient at time and priority management.
Education:
The candidate should have a Bachelor degree or Masters in Computer Science or 7 to 10 years of related experience in IT or a related field
Description:
Performs all Oracle Database Administration related activities for major projects independently with minimal supervision.
Install and upgrade and manage Oracle RAC databases with ASM as required on Linux and Solaris Operating systems.
Install, Upgrade and manage Oracle Grid Control system
Troubleshoot and resolve RAC and Veritas clustering issues in all database environments
Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities.
Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact production, business.
Provides technical expertise to the development of solutions for such items as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup and recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
Performs database migrations, upgrades and structure migrations.
Ability to influence development organizations to comply with database best practices and database standards and practices.
Runs transaction access path analysis sessions with application developers, analyzing specifications and code to ensure that data access and database designs are as efficient as possible.
Make recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
Fully utilizes tools to develop, or modify, physical database designs from logical designs, using the logical design, discussion with the Data Analyst, application development reviews, and documented results from transaction access path analysis sessions as input.
Assures quality of database analysis and design across projects, thus enabling company-wide data reusability.
Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities.
Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities including such items as database reorganizations and restructures.
