Location :  Boston, MA.

Contract Length:   1 year (renewable)

Project(s) DurationN/A

Hours per Week:  ~40

This is with State of MA we are going thru Preferred Vendor.

 

Role: MS Access Developer

 

The Microsoft Access Software Developer will design, maintain and support applications written in Access that support all aspects of the MassDOT and Highway Division business.  The selected candidate will primarily be focused on legacy applications within our Contract Management System project – a multi-year project to consolidate a large number of legacy Highway applications into one enterprise solution to support Highway Design and Construction.

 

We are looking for someone who has a thorough knowledge of MS-Access programming and application development including all of the following:

·         table creation and normalization, SQL coding (for data access and querying), VBA coding (modules and event handling code for interface manipulation), interface creation (form and report creation and design). Strong PC-skills (MS Office, IE, Microsoft Outlook)

·         Desire and ability to take abstract instructions and develop detailed systems to meet the objectives

·         6 years of experience programming in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

·         6 years of experience designing forms, queries and reports in Microsoft Access

·         Development of queries in MS SQL Server

·         Work well independently with the ability to think on your feet

·         Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Required Skills:

·         Developer skill-set within MS Access/Excel/VBA 2003/2007/2010

·         Developer skill set within MS SQL Server 2005/2008

·         Project management skill-set

·         Highly effective communicator

·         Ability to lead a team of developers

·         Database documentation skills

·         Automation and Process Improvement knowledge

 

Required Experience:

·         Demonstrable  experience handling multiple projects in parallel with tight deadlines

·         Experience with MS SQL Server is preferred

·         Familiar with general development/support life-cycle

 

Experience with the following considered a plus:

·         ASP, ASP.Net, VB.Net

·         WCF & Entity Framework

·         .Net Framework 4.0 & Visual Studio 2010

·         Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Information Warehouse
