Job Description:
Web Developer for Business applications
The Consultant(s) shall work on new and existing internal web applications, such as the ITS Service Request system, Inventory Tracking system, Workflow system, and State Data Center Invoice Reconciliation system. The aforementioned web applications are critical to the functions of ITS staff. The Consultant(s) shall employ Visual Basic 6.0 and Active Server Pages to maintain existing applications, as well as Visual Studio and VB.net to create new applications and support existing ado.net and asp.net applications. The Consultant(s) shall create stored procedures to insert, change and delete records from a SQL Server database. The Consultant(s) shall develop and deploy user interfaces to the Development, Quality Assurance and Production systems. The Consultant(s) shall be responsible for performing quality assurance testing on the Development and Quality Assurance tiers. The Consultant(s) shall be responsible for database development and administration. The Consultant(s) shall also be responsible for maintaining and assigning user permissions to the systems for which he/she is responsible, as well as troubleshooting and resolving application problems.
In addition Consultant(s) shall:
1. facilitate and ensure the successful transfer of knowledge from the Consultant(s) to ITS staff designated by the Director or his/her designee;
2. report to ITS Management who will be responsible for maintaining control over the Consultant's work duties, schedule, and performance;
3. submit required reports, as defined by ITS. Consultant(s) reporting may, at the discretion of ITS, include Time Distribution Reports (TDR), Weekly Consultant Time and Status Report;
4. be responsible for daily backups of any data and/or software developed as a result of Consultant's tasks; and
5. attend periodic (i.e. weekly) NYS ITS status meetings.

Candidates should have at least 60 months experience, and at least one of the following should apply:
Associate's degree
Experience developing web applications involving all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
Experience performing MS SQL Server DBA tasks, building and maintaining database structures, and
developing and deploying stored procedures
Experience with database interaction (select, insert, update, delete) via .Net code
Experience with AJAX and JavaScript
Experience with Web Services
Experience with IIS Version 6.0 or greater
Please note that our client does allow Skype/remote interviews. However they reserve the right to require an in-person interview.
