Job Title: Teradata DBA

Work Location: Lincolnshire, IL (Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months+

Technical/Functional Skills :

• Has extensive experience working with Teradata day-to-day maintenance activities, Space Management, Performance Tuning, Capacity planning and Backup/Recovery strategies.
• Experienced in working with Teradata ETL tools like Fast Load, Multi Load, Tpump and Fast Export. Also worked extensively on Teradata Query Submitting and processing tools like BTEQ and Teradata SQL Assistant.
• Raise any issues with the Teradata supported software/hardware with Teradata (using TYS) and manage these through to resolution.
• Proactive identification of inefficient/poorly performing queries and suggesting improvements to application support teams/development teams/customers
• Has experience with installation and configuration along with Upgrades and Debugging.
• Proficiency with Database Query Log (DBQL) Query Performance Tuning, Teradata Active System Management (TASM), Protegrity Data Encryption Technologies.
• Expertise in using Visual Explain, Index wizard, Statistics wizard to tune the bad queries and analyze the plans implement the recommendations to gain the performance.
• Very strong on Teradata SQL query optimization techniques like: EXPLAIN feature, COLLECT STATISTICS, Secondary Indexes (USI, NUSI), Partition Primary Index (PPI), Volatile and global temporary tables etc.
• Extensive knowledge on Dimensional Data modeling, Star Schema/snowflakes schema, Fact and Dimension tables
• Highly experienced in SQL performance tuning/SQL optimization and debugging of ETL process.
• Gathered information required for TSAM (Teradata Active System Management) implementation analyzing Teradata work Load analyzer, View Point, DBQL, Teradata administrator.
• Hand's on Teradata Parallel Transport, Index wizard, SET etc.

Roles & Responsibilities:

24X7 support as production DBA 
Attend meetings on a daily , monthly and weekly basis with the SMEs , Managers and Directors
Preparation of status reports and submitting them to the immediate managers for review and feedback
To be available after office hours as well in case of emergency support required including weekends Saturday and Sunday.
