ITJOB-ALERT LAN Designer

We are currently working with our client (who is looking for a Senior Lan Designer – for Corning, NY

* LAN (Design) - concentration in Medium to Large LAN Network Designs, ability to manage vendors.
* Design, maintain, and support wired/wireless network
infrastructure.
* Diagnose and resolve network hardware/software problems
associated with the global network infrastructure.
* Performance analyses of switches, access servers, wireless network access points, and routers.
* Provide day-to-day management of switches, servers, wireless network access points, and router configurations.
* Monitoring, analyze, and document performance of network
equipment.
* Develop and maintain documentation related to global
network/network support systems

Key Responsibilities:

• Explain the strategic IT Technology roadmap to junior IT members and customers.
• Ensure that roadmaps and standards are in place.
• Participate in all IT technology implementations.
• Research and investigate new IT technology.
• Vet a large base of solutions, picking what will use and reuse for its technology approach.
• Maintain up to date knowledge on IT Technology.
• Assist with cross-functional project/issues/problems that are complex or difficult to resolve.
• Define metrics for success and measures IT technology performance.
• Provide the IT technology hand-off to operational support.
• Develop new IT technology leaders and coaches other IT technology personnel.
• Manage the technology portfolio.
• Develop reusable components (e.g., designs and develops things that can be reused in other applications.).
• Own when and where to apply technology (requests come in from the business analyst role and goes to the Technology Leader).
• Serve as the SME for their technology set and provides advice from his/her deep knowledge in the technology.
• Coordinate appropriate internal and external resources to provide a technology set or a particular solution.
• Perform design reviews in SDLC.
• Responsible for test planning.
• Coordinate and communicate regularly with the IT Support/Operations team and own supervisor and team members.
• Respond to customer requirements and ensure that customer needs are being met by IT.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field including engineering or business management degree.
• 5 - 7 years IT experience working across a number of technology areas, with approximately 3 years working as a senior analyst or similar technology role.
• Able to work in virtual teams.
• Good understanding of IT industry.
• Recognized as a technology SME (subject matter expert) in prior position (operational or engineering).
• Project management skills.
• Good communication skills in presentation, written, and meeting facilitation.
• Able to perform quality assurance activities in project work.
• Experience working with the IT technology area which the role is servicing.
• Extensive knowledge of switches, routers, firewalls, and all associated protocols.
• Strong Cisco Networking background

• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Qualifications Desired:

• Understanding of portfolio management and roadmap management
• Detailed documentation skills
• Have IT application experience as well as infrastructure experience
• Ability to travel internationally and communicate with global teams
• Testing methodologies and skills
• Awareness/familiarity with Six Sigma process
• Knowledge of DNS, AD, DHCP, and security
• VoIP experience
