This position will provide analysis, design, programming, consultation, system configuration and documentation for the implementation and modification of management information systems in a UNIX/Windows XP environment with client-server technology for a multi-agency organization. Utilization of Internet technologies, database management systems, multiple programming languages, standard markup languages, and graphical user interface (GUI) tools will be applied to applications development.
Daily Duties/ Responsibilities:
Work with application teams to understand, document, define development processes, code and maintain applications in their production environment
Assist in the design of new functionality as additional requirements are identified by client.
Communicates effectively with technology staff and business stakeholder
This position will report directly to the internal application section manager and may work in conjunction with other contractor(s) and board it staff in the design and development phases.
Provides status reports regularly to the internal applications manager
Required skills:
1. Considerable knowledge of systems analysis, design, debugging, testing, and maintenance techniques.
2. Ability to analyze operations and organize component parts into a logical system.
3. Experience developing web-based applications in modern object oriented development languages such as Java, C++ and Ruby on Rails.
4. Experience with Relational Database systems such Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
Preferred skills
1. Considerable experience in software lifecycle methodologies.
2. Experience with software code repositories such as CVS, SVN, Git.
Required education:
B/S in Computer Science
