Performance Engineer

Menlo Park, CA,

4 to 9 months CTH

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

•              Provide performance testing and detailed analysis for product development teams within Client Financial Services on SAAS/Web and Mobile applications.

•              Work closely with multiple product development teams to scope, plan, and execute performance test efforts

•              Develop, maintain, and execute performance test plans and test cases

•              Provide recommendations to enhance application/system performance.

 

Qualifications:

 

•              Good understanding of performance, scalability and load testing and methodology used.

•              Experience developing and running Jmeter and Silk performance tests and gather metrics including system metrics

•              Experience using Java Profiling tools such as Yourkit, Jprofiler, Jprobe etc and ability to drill down to root cause of performance issues.

•              Expertise in monitoring, understanding and optimizing Java Performance to identify bottlenecks

•              Understanding of memory organization in a Java Heap

•              Understanding of available Garbage Collection Operations

•              Able to identify memory leaks and drill down to root cause

•              Knowledge of web page performance optimization techniques

•              Experience with system tuning and gathering OS (Linux) metrics.

•              Understanding Java performance tuning and java performance characteristics in a multi-threaded environment.

•              Remote debugging applications and identifying and troubleshooting issues.

•              Experience performance testing large scale web based financial applications

•              Web technologies and methodologies (XML, SOAP, REST, etc)

•              Advanced white box design and testing techniques desired.

•              Understanding of risk assessment methodologies

•              Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment and with geographically distributed teams

•              Solid technical aptitude. Must be able to quickly establish credibility with technical community

•              Ability to communicate complex technical issues to engineers and executives.

•              Ability to review Java code to identify potential performance/scalability issues would be a huge plus.

•              BS Software Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent engineering degree. MS in Computer Science highly desired
