Summary
Responsible for completing assigned deliverable tasks of the structures engineering group, responsible for cabin interiors and primary / secondary structural installations. Tasks include producing drawings for the detail fabrication, assembly, and installation of details, assemblies, monuments, cabinetry, fuselage, seat track, etc on aircraft. Tasks also include providing design guidance and checking the work of other engineers in similar and related tasks, as well as ensuring compliance of all elements, testing and inspection of structure and monuments, and support for continued airworthiness of the product. Tasks may also include oversight of Mechanical Systems and Electrical Systems installations.
Description of Duties
Completing tasks related to structures deliverable tasks (drawings, documents), budgeting, tracking, and coordinating.
Responsible for structural design engineering to include:
o aircraft installations for passenger seats and divans, cabinets, galleys, lavatories, bulkheads, headliner, monitor shrouds, and other miscellaneous components.
o aircraft interior composite details and assemblies, including; cabinets, galleys, lavatories, bulkheads, headliner, monitor shrouds, and other miscellaneous components.
o aircraft formed sheet metal and machined parts and assemblies.
o aircraft structural installations in support of avionics and cabin systems equipment including satellite communications systems, telephone systems, in flight entertainment/cabin management systems (IFE/CMS), camera systems, security systems, and other electrical systems as required by contract.
o aircraft structures and structural modifications to support the equipment and systems.
o Aircraft structural installations in support of mechanical systems for modifications to aircraft passenger cabin mechanical systems including environmental control systems (ECS), water and waste, oxygen, and smoke detection systems.
o Coordinate with the flight sciences group to ensure that the engineering is in compliance with structural, damage tolerance, access, interiors, and related regulations.
o Based on seniority, may include Oversight of other engineers or subcontractors.
Ensure that the drawings are accurate and free of errors.
Ensure that the engineering bill of materials for each drawing is complete and accurate and within BaySys processes.
Adhere to engineering drawing release schedules and budgets; provide accurate and timely progress updates to the Project Engineer, Program Manager, and Engineering Manager when requested.
Cooperate and support the other departments at BaySys that rely upon engineering data to do their job. Be open to suggestions on how to improve the engineering product in order to help others accomplish their jobs more efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering and four years experience (less with a Master's) in structural and stress analysis.
Master of Science in Structural engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Civil Engineering preferred.
Desired: Airbus and Boeing experience in mechanical and primary/secondary structural engineering, and VIP completions.
