Job Description
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is a member of the SSTG Quality team whose primary responsibility is to identify and mitigate software quality issues associated with the design, production and release of software products.
As a member of the Quality Team, reviews product design documents; reviews, creates and executes test cases; creates and maintains test data; records test results; tracks and creates various reports and metrics. All tasks are oriented toward improving and assessing the quality of the product(s) to be released.
• Conducts and assists with the creation, execution and maintenance of feature, regression and performance tests.
• Promotes quality practices in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Develops effective test plans and works with team members to organize product testing as a part of product development and release cycles.
• Participates in change control process and Software Change Control Board meetings for assigned areas.
• Initiates, monitors and verifies individual bugs and participates in the bug resolution process.
• Working with team members, participates in the review and selection of tools and technologies to optimize existing quality practices and recommend where these might be used to improve quality process and test automation tools infrastructure.
• Represents and promotes quality engineering and quality assurance methods, processes and procedures.
Skills Required
• Minimum of 5 years experience in software product quality assurance with an emphasis on quality engineering in heterogeneous information systems and business environments.
• Hands on experience (5 years) conducting acceptance, regression, feature and performance testing both in manual and automated environments.
• Experience using Agile (Scrum) methodology
• Experience (1 year) short release cycles (quarterly or shorter).
• Experience (5 years) utilizing test automation for web-based, and client-server software using commercial test automation tools from companies such as Segue Silk, HP QTP, IBM RFT, etc.
• Experience (5 years) developing comprehensive test plans and organizing testing for complex applications; product testing; analyzing system failures and determining areas of weakness.
• Experience (5 years) with Web based product Architectures; Ability to assess commercial level performance, scalability, and robustness system issues in web based products.
• Experience (3-4 years) with Oracle based products on UNIX (Solaris and Linux preferred) and development environments and products on Windows systems.
• Experience (3-4 years) with SQL, creating statements, verifying test results and gathering test data from the database.
• Experience (2-3 years) with testing Java, JavaScript and XML based products at the API level
• Experience (2-3 years) with testing applications on TomCat, WebSphere or Apache web servers
• Experience (3 years) with Object-oriented Software Development Methodologies
• Minimum of a BS degree in technology related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
• Demonstrated longevity in the testing field and in specific jobs.
Preferred Skills
In addition to the above required skills, it is preferred that candidates also have some or all of the following skills:
• Familiarity with and ability to code/code review in the following languages: TCL, Expect, Perl, Action script, MXML, Ajax, HTML5
• Familiarity and experience with the Eclipse and Flash Builder IDEs
• Experience with JMeter, JUnit, JPerformer, JTest, ANT/Maven, LoadRunner, Selenium, YSlow/FireBug/FireBug Lite
• Basic understanding of Cisco networking devices
• Experience with portal framework-based testing using products such as LifeRay/Quickr
