Business Analyst with Domain Expert– Shipping (Package/Parcel Movement)
Work Location : Memphis, TN
Position Type:- Full Time Permanent

Key Responsibilities : Domain Expert– Shipping (Package/Parcel Movement)
The Domain Expert role is expected to have in-depth understanding of the industry shipping sub-domain (package/parcel movement) in Transportation and Logistics domain and provide the required thought and solution leadership in the shipping domain. The key responsibilities include:
• Acquire client specific domain knowledge and business processes
• Leverage industry and account specific knowledge to build Domain Capabilities
• Create domain-focused solutions that will be revenue multiplier for MphasiS
• Acquire account specific business knowledge by working closely with the current and new engagements, client business team and suggest ways to improve their business processes or suggest
areas where the business lags behind
Accountability
• Participate in all pre-sales, RFP response and sales activities in shipping domain
• From projects and presales activities, capture and keep current reusable assets to accelerate sales activities and delivery activities
• For areas within the domain where MphasiS currently does not have a significant body of work, create reusable sales and delivery assets to help MphasiS achieve sales and deliver consistently
in the space
• Help grow account through engagement with business and IT teams in the organization, identifying opportunities and helping win business on the account
• For current projects in the domain, oversee the work of team to ensure quality and best practice solutions/requirements
• For large, enterprise level projects, continue as key solution owner for the project, with accountability for the end to end solution, across both business and technical streams
• Know the different business enabled solutions in use across the industry, and to hold an unbiased view of the relative benefits and demerits of each
• Know the drivers and decision points for an organization to decide on a business solution to be most appropriate to them
• Articulate the various solutions as most appropriate for the target audience
Job Description
• Have a good understanding of industry wide shipping domain specific to parcel and package movement. Needs to be current at a high level with macro developments in this space
• Be able to manage BAs and technical teams; and ensuring that all teams are working together to deliver complex solutions
• Personal generate white papers and position papers that can be shared with customers show casing thought leadership in the space, with a view to bringing in business in the domain
• Work with sales teams to generate canned presentation material that can be reused across multiple customers to show case thought leadership in the domain
• Work with sales teams to engage with customers or potential customers in the domain to understand the customer's current state, and to be able to work with them to arrive at solutions that
are appealing to the customer
• Articulate the solution in documents, presentations and workshops with all stakeholders – both on the customer side and internal to MphasiS. The Domain Expert is expected to be able to
articulate all elements in the solution, irrespective of whether they were originated by the Domain Expert, mandated by the customer, or evolved jointly with alliance partners. Solution
elements include:
o Business architecture showing the customer current state and future state
o Overall functional architecture of the solution
o Work with business & IT stakeholders to capture operational aspects of sustaining the solution
• Mentoring and oversight of all team members involved in constructing, delivering and sustaining solutions
o Needs to be able work in onshore / offshore delivery model
• Grow the domain knowledge through documentation, mentoring and training of resources from within the organization.
Personal Qualities
• Excellent communicator, with the ability to engage with business teams
• Good listener, with the ability to ask structured questions to complete their understanding of any functional area
• Strong team leader who can coordinate several business areas. Though acting as leader, must be comfortable in deferring to experts where they know better
• Good understanding of project delivery in onshore-offshore model, and be able to communicate effectively to remote teams, including knowledge, accountability, shared responsibilities, etc.
• Be able to work independently; but be willing to have all work products go through peer review
• Shares knowledge with others, without actively seeking something in return
Mandatory Technical Skills
• Conversant with overall shipping domain
• Conversant with critical business processes in the domain and implementations across the industry
• Should have self-organization, excellent communication skills and should be able to interact at various levels within the client Business and IT organization
• Ability to recognize risk areas in multi-vendor environments, and mitigate them with appropriate oversight
Desirable Technical Skills
• Familiarity with the technology and its implementation
• Familiar with different project models: waterfall / agile / extreme
