Note : Resource needs to have enough experience having built a cloud environment. They need candidates who have delivered SaaS or taken existing software and moved into a SaaS model.
Essential Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to focus on Cloud Engineering to work in a team made up of Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, User Interaction Design Engineers, Software Architects, and the Product Owner team to lead the design, development, and delivery of high quality software in a fast paced, challenging, and creative environment. In this role you will:
• Help shape the Cloud architecture of the product.
• Work with leadership at engineering organization to identify technical requirements to Cloud enable the platform.
• Provide technical guidance to management on Cloud related topics and become point of contact.
• Develop OSGI based Service Oriented Infrastructure as a platform that can be delivered in a Cloud deployment model.
• Use your knowledge of Cloud in terms of metering, scaling, virtualization, security and apply that to Product design and implementation.
• Mentor team members so that Cloud enablement becomes part of the design.
• Enable transition of existing platform to Cloud based deployment model.
• Embrace techniques in product development like TDD, Agile, etc. to deliver beautiful software that meets Business, User Experience, Technical requirements.
• Participate in technical discussions that help drive not only the cloud vision but also the general product roadmap and vision.
• Responsible for the design of multiple software Modules.
• Ensure Implementation meets design objectives.
• Lead and guide multiple Lead Software Engineers in their design & development.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering OR "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 10 years relevant technical work experience in software
development.
• Minimum 7 years of experience with Java programming languages.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must be 18 years or older.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Client will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience in Cloud Engineering having built Software that was the backbone of Cloud enabled Service delivery solution.
• Java 5/6 expert.
• Strong knowledge of J2EE.
• Strong JPA, JTA, JMS and Spring framework.
• Strong knowledge of OOD, software design patterns and principles.
• Good understanding of different kinds of Cloud environments like Amazon, SFDC, etc.
• Knowledge of Cloud scalability, security and management requirements.
• Experience with documenting Cloud enabled services.
• Strong software development and analytical skills at a well known engineering organization.
• Able to clearly articulate and document software designs and strategies.
• Write high quality code using test-driven development (TDD) practices.
• Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, and leveraging product and technology reuse.
• Support process improvements to drive higher quality and productivity.
• Communicate effectively within your immediate team, with the broader software team, and cross-functionally.
• Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.
• Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products.
• Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.
• Strong software development and analytical skills at a well known engineering organization.
• Key performance metrics in distributed service oriented architecture.
• Strong Web Service, XML technologies (SOAP, JAXB, WSDL, XML).
• Strong knowledge JUnit and Test Driven Development practices.
• Experience with Oracle SQL.
• Strong problem solving abilities.
• Experience working with Agile software development methodologies.
• Encourages input from all members of the team.
• High energy, results driven person with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with more senior co-workers and leadership with confidence and clarity.
• Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility.
