Job Description :

The Data Warehouse DataStage Developer will serve on the Business Intelligence team, supporting data extractions, transformations and load development processes which flow between both Logical DW models and physical structures, Oracle, SAP/BW, SQL Server and/or DB2 systems and within the technical leadership of the BI team. This position will provide development, performance, and monitoring within the BI team to code interfaces, extractions, DW population, based on business usage. Skills should also include the ability to develop and interpret technical design documentation, have organizational skills sufficient to manage and complete the work load assigned with minimal supervision, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

DUTIES:

1.       Participate as a team member on technical projects involving the use of DataStage for development of ETL processes.

1.       Develop written Technical Specifications describing details necessary to build ETL jobs based on logical and physical data models and business functional objectives.

2.       Develop and unit test ETL jobs according to requirements in the Technical Specifications.

3.       Performs performance tuning and capacity planning activities relevant to DataStage ETL processes.

4.       Facilitates root cause analysis on DataStage ETL issues, and communicate issues and resolutions effectively.

5.       Applies policies, procedures and standards relating to BI ETL process development, in conjunction with Data Warehouse best practices.

6.       Works closely with other associates working on the same project.

7.       Will be required to work on moderately to very complex tasks.

8.       Follow SDLC processes and master the rules governing the project.

9.       Demonstrates a commitment to OfficeMax core values of safety, integrity, process improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Position Requirements

·         Minimum of 5 years experience in DataStage 8.0/7.5.

·         Experience with Developing both Server and Parallel jobs running on a UNIX platform.

·         Experience developing ETL processes using Oracle databases as Source and Target data environments.

·         Experience using DataStage for accessing data as sources from the Mainframe, AS400, and SAP, and SQL Server.

·         Working knowledge of Toad, Putty, SQL plus.

·         Experience working in all phases of a full project life cycle.

·         Experience working with DataStage SAP Plug-ins.

·         Experience with very large database management environments as it pertains to the development strategies necessary for building ETL processes loading such an environment.

·         Excellent knowledge of Unix Bourne and Korn shell scripting.

·         Must be a high energy team player with a positive working attitude and possess excellent documentation skills

·         Must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously

·         Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.

·         Understanding of the retail industry is preferred

 

Required skills 5+ years experience:

·         Working knowledge of Oracle versions 9i, 10G with respect to building Extract and Load process using DataStage.

·         Extensive experience with building Historical and Daily Incremental ETL load processes in a large terabyte database environment.

·         Expert knowledge of Enterprise DataStage 8.0.1

·         Expert knowledge in development of Server and Parallel processing jobs.

·         Expert knowledge in development of DataStage Job Sequencers for complex processes.

·         Prior use of the SAP R3 Plug-In for DataStage 8.0.1 for extracting data from SAP R3 and loading to a large Data Warehousing environment.

·         Unix Bourne and Korn shell scripting

·         Previous work with Enterprise scheduling tools such as UC4 for control DataStage job and sequencer execution.

·         A working knowledge of SAP and the use of Standard Extractors in the SAP environment.

·         A working knowledge of SAP BW and interpretation of Transfer Rules.
