Position: Senior Cognos Developer
Location: JERSEY CITY, New Jersey
Rate: $60/hr
Description: We are looking for a SENIOR Cognos Developer that is proficient with the full SDLC and proficient with framework modeling and complex reporting. Candidate needs to be self-motivated and able to excel in a fast-paced environment. Should have the ability to prioritize and work concurrently on multiple tasks. Should have the ability to create value-added relationships with project team, business team members and other IT teams both at the executive and technology levels.
Job specific requirements and skills
Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
Sr. Consultant with a minimum of 10 years of experience
Experience with the Cognos 8.4X SDK is a must
Strong data modeling, data architecture and analytical sills
Strong SQL skills, including performance analysis
Experienced in designing and developing standard reporting and ad-hoc reporting environments
Expert in architecting Cognos multi-dimensional cube solutions
Able to design and implement a robust security architecture which will include both row level security and object security
Experienced in performance management and best practices for Cognos reporting and modeling
Expert in developing Framework Manager models by leveraging Cognos recommended design techniques
Experience in development and enhancement of Cognos Portal through SDK
Experience in Cognos JavaScripting.
Troubleshoot and resolve the applications or integrations issues.
Strong in either JAVA J2EE or .NET/C#
Strong in Service Oriented Architecture and web service
SunOne LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory development with JNDI
Relational and Dimensional database design for Oracle, Sql Server
Hands-on Experience in Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the development teams, management and business users
Ability to assign development tasks and monitor, improve, and report on the Cognos development process / progress
Experience in mentoring other Cognos developers
Experienced with Cognos based work estimates and work planning
Strong background in analytics and data mining is a big plus
Good understanding of KPIs, statistics and forecasting within insurance business context is a plus
