Role: Java Developer
Location: Beaverton, OR
Duration: 1 year contract

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building management and monitoring tools with a heavy user interface component for GemFire and SQLFire
• Participate in specification, design, implementation, QA testing, evangelism and support of the product, as well as improve existing features and product performance.
• Work on a small team (4-10) engineers on a daily basis, using Agile engineering practices.
• Work with technical writers and trainers.

Required Skills:

BS/MS Computer Science or equivalent, with coursework or experience in distributed systems.
• 4+ years Concurrent Java programming skills (rapid development, testing, and profiling).
• Solid UI Developer with a background in UX Design.
• Good understanding of Java EE Web Technologies (Servlets & JSP/JSTL); experience working with Spring Web MVC or similar Web frameworks a plus.
• Proven experience in HTML4/5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and/or ExtJS. Other JavaScript-based framework experience also valued (Dojo, DWR, GWT, Node.js, etc).
• Experience working with Web 2.0 technologies including AJAX, REST-based Web Services and JSON along with XML/XSLT required.
• Test automation experience using Selenium or WebDriver necessary.
• Skilled in User Workflow Process Analysis, Data Gathering, Validation, Look N' Feel, and Usability Testing.
• Solid programming skills with focus on best practices, design patterns and awareness/application of open standards.
• Use of Subversion, Confluence, ReviewBoard (other similar code review tool like Crucible) helpful.
• Familiarity and experience with Agile processes (Scrum using Sprints) and practices (Pair programming, TDD, code reviews, CI).
• Ability to effectively communicate with other members of the core GemFire engineering team along with collaborating on the design, implementation details and receiving feedback essential to success in this role.
