Title: Cognos Report Developer

Report developers create and modify reports that are based on application gathered and managed by the Guidewire application. These reports may be written using existing reporting tools, or may be based on a reporting solution provided with a Guidewire application.

 

Key activities include:

 

Perform data analysis and report development activities for Enterprise Data Warehouse Reporting Team.

Analyze source system data to understand the data structure, definitions and anomalies. Interact with customer as needed to better define and understand reporting requirements. Interact with other technical team members to establish reporting requirements.

Perform daily Cognos query and report writing, as requested.

Ability to program in SQL to perform the data query, reporting and data load functions. Support end-users on the data warehouse query and reporting tools and BI applications. May perform Cognos Administrator functions, such as production deployments of reports, packages and cubes, user security, report scheduling and troubleshooting.

Document report designs and processes in a clear and concise manner.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Report developers should have hands-on experience developing reports. Report developers should have the following skills:

 

Knowledge of Cognos 8 Business Intelligence products including Framework Manager, Query

Studio, Report Studio, and Analysis Studio, or equivalent Business Intelligence tools.

Strong SQL query skills.

Strong data analysis and report writing skills.

Relational and Star Schema / Dimensional database modeling and design skills. Ability to be flexible and work within a team environment.

Ability to effectively communicate in non-technical terms with business unit management and end users for information and reporting delivery solutions.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

 

PREFERRED:

 

4 years experience to include:

Data Warehouse projects from design through production deployment and support.

SQL Development and Report Writing experience.

SQL Server 2000 / 2005, DB2, Oracle or a comparable relational database.

Data warehouse experience
