Position:  MySQL Database Developer

Duration: Long term contract position

Location: Bay Area, CA

Rate: Open

 

As Senior Database Developer, the candidate will be working with MySQL database technology to design, build and maintain different components / subsystems of the Sears Open Source technology department. The Senior Database Developer will serve as individual contributor on the business requirements for these systems. Candidate will participate in every stage of the project lifecycle -- gather requirements, design, develop and test. A wide degree of knowledge, creativity and efficiency is expected.

 

Responsibilities

Serve as a key contributor for implementation of initiatives related to Sears Open Source systems.
• Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements. Design appropriate solutions and recommend alternative approaches when necessary.
• Provide necessary support of the open source systems data. Respond quickly to critical requests and participate in processes troubleshooting / investigations.

Skills/Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience designing and building systems for high traffic and transaction volumes
• Excellent knowledge of at least one major DBMS (Oracle, DB2, SQL*Server): database performance tuning, administration, data modeling and development

• Ability to work with business users, product managers, QA, Release, UI and Platform Engineering teams to develop e-commerce applications
• Excellent communications skills

Preferred:
• Experience with the Catalog, Content and Order Management Systems.
• Experience in MySQL Database technology.

• Shell scripting
