Sr. Java Application Developer to join our team in New York, NY.
Qualifications:
Client is seeking a Sr. Application Developer to be a key player in the analysis, design, implementation, and support of the SmartWorks Publishing platform. This role requires a seasoned technologist, who works effectively, independently, and collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate must be delivery and execution-focused with a solid background in publishing systems and enterprise content management. The candidate will report to the Director of Publishing System and will assist with platform setup and implementation, custom development, day-to-day support, operations functions, architecture, unit testing, and deployment tasks. In addition, the candidate must be a highly skilled RIA and J2EE developer well versed in front-end development as well as integration methods that leverage web services, JMS and ESB technology. We are looking for a developer that will take ownership of technical delivery for the platform and will make recommendations on the future technical direction.
- Design and deliver an industry-leading, enterprise-wide publishing platform using the Quark suite of technologies.
- Lead cross-platform integration, manage technical product life cycle, support systems delivery, application systems development, work directly with Enterprise Architecture to promote and protect architectural integrity of the platform and our shared services model.
- Assist in the delivery of an integration layer using Web Services (SOAP/REST) and Asynchronous Messaging (JMS, Sonic MQ, Sonic ESB, Actional Soap Station, Oracle AquaLogic DSP) as the integration backbone.
- Create and establish working partnerships with various technology groups.
- Produce system design documents, participate in technical walkthroughs, conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers and consulting staff.
- Respond to and resolve production issues, address and help resolve help desk problem tickets to their conclusion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in production based work experience; MS in Computer Science highly desirable.
- A minimum of 6 years of production experience in software development in a Unix/Sun Solaris, Windows XP-2007, Java/J2EE, Ext JS, JQuery, RIA technologies, Relational & XML Database (Oracle 9i/10g) and Content Management System environment.
- Understanding of the .NET Framework with a focus on integration with MS Office Suite and custom DLL development.
- Production experience in Publishing Systems design, development, configuration, optimization, and administration. Quark, Oracle and CMS experience is highly desirable.
- Strong web application, server side and middleware development experience delivering Java/J2EE applications using: Ext JS/JQuery, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services, Servlets, JSP, JMS.
- Experience with Agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Experience in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
- Hands-on experience with XML/XSLT, and Spring Web Services (SOAP, REST); Experience with DITA XML is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in development environments and tools, including Eclipse IDE, Tomcat/iPlanet web servers, Weblogic application servers, CVS, JUnit, Quality Center.
- Skills and experience with build tools, specifically Maven and Hudson.
- Skills and experience with Identity Management Solutions (Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle Access Manager, LDAP, Active Directory, SSO).
- Strong understanding of system architecture, object-oriented design, and J2EE frameworks and patterns.
- Strong Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures, SQL optimization skills.
- Experience in working with financial market data: general understanding of fixed income asset classes is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies.
