Job Description:

Role Overview:

The database developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining processes which facilitate the data integration and migration of transactional and master data between a local SQL Server database and other company systems. In addition, the developer will provide day-to-day support to the DBA

 

Responsibilities:

Understand integration environment and relationship between systems

Create SQL Stored procedures, functions, views and other required SQL objects

Create and manage reports

Create and manage SQL Integration Services packages

Proactively monitor integration performance to ensure highest level of availability

Create and manage documentation

Troubleshoot integration and SQL Server-related issues in the integration environment

Experience:

In depth SQL Server experience including Database, SSIS and SSRS

Experience in multi-phase projects

Working in a team and individually in a project environment

Real-time integration concepts a benefit

 

Skills:

Organize and prioritize multiple development streams and deployments

SQL Server 2005/2008 Management Studio and BI Development environment

Stored Procedures, Views and other SQL object development

Report Development (SQL Reporting Services)

SQL Reporting Services distribution and management

SQL Integration Services development

 

Additional Job Info:

A key candidate is someone with a lot of experience with SSIS in a data integration environment. They find candidates with a lot of reporting, but they are looking for exp in integration work with SSIS- someone who is working with a lot of data between different systems- who really understands integration and how it applies to sql development. Look for a business minded person, but someone heads down who is very technically savy will work as well. The database is completely sql server and db2 on as400 side. First few months is working with the other developer to learn the system and heads down sql development depending on what is needed. This person would be just basic development and documentation, not too engaged unless they have extra design skills. Data modeling experience is key also- no specific tools needed, data modeling exposure but not looking for someone to architect out a data layer. This position is strictly integration and being able to understand the data and knowing what's its doing and how its being transformed. They have a BI group at Republic so they don't need BI knowledge in this role.
