Position Title:  Human Resource System Application Specialist  
Location: Lansing, MI 
Duration: 1 Year +

Must have 10+ with Infor (Lawson) and  payroll calculation processes.    


Position Description:
This position serves as the Client's Human Resource Management (HRMN) Systems Specialist. The position is responsible for usability and integrity of State's mission critical payroll, personnel and benefits system. HRMN is an enterprise wide red-card system affecting all State of Michigan employees including judicial and legislative staff. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for the overall integration of the human resource systems. This position requires a working knowledge of the Data Collection and Distribution System (DCDS) and extensive knowledge of the HRMN system, how they integrate with each other as well as with Management Information DataBase (MIDB), Michigan Administrative Information Network (MAIN), Financial Administration and Control System (FACS) and all other vendors (approximately 300). As the statewide specialist, the position is responsible for the review and endorsement of all major system modifications, both vendor provided CTPs and State generated modifications driven by business requirements, as well as system interfaces. Position is the primary individual responsible for the PAYCALC process, impacting every State of Michigan employee. Position also serves as overall QA ensuring work meets the established development standards. 

Skills required are extensive knowledge of Payroll processing, Microfocus Cobol, SQL, PL/SQL, Unix commands & scripting, Infor (Lawson) software technical tools. HRMN application is used statewide by more than 54,000 users and has 216 custom programs, 96 Modified Programs (Modifications to the Infor Delivered code), 37 Adaptations (Modifications to Infor Delivered code driven by State business and legal requirements) and about 2000 Infor delivered programs. HRMN Production Database consists of 2100 tables. Position requires an in-depth knowledge of HRMN, DCDS, MAIN, MIDB, etc., interfaces with over 300 vendors and the driving business requirements and processes.    

Skills Required  Knowledge of Microfocus Cobol, SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX commands & scripts,Infor technical tools, and data modeling is essential. The incumbent should also be familiar with relational databases and payroll processing. Must know payroll process and the Infor (Lawson) software extremely well. Ability to advise on appropriate action related to systems design, system integration strategies, and to recommend reliable resolutions to issues and problems. Must be able to communicate with other analysts, project managers and with the user, both listening and lending professional advice. This position must work well in a team focused environment.    

Skills Preferred  Tact, patience, and good communication skills are very important as is a willingness to take responsibility of a critical system. Knowledge of personal computer operations utilizing Windows software is helpful. Incumbent is also expected to obtain additional knowledge of development tools and new programming skills as the implementation of new technology warrants.    

Experience Required  10 years' experience with payroll process; 10 years' experience with Infor (Lawson) software; 10 years' experience supporting payroll calculation processes.    

Experience Preferred  10 years' experience developing, testing and maintaining HR systems applications.    

Education Required  Possession of a bachelor's degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) hours in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, or mathematics.    

Education Preferred  Four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 or P12, specializing in Infor (Lawson) software and payroll calculation functionality and processes.
