The Senior Systems Administrator will be working on a ground-breaking digital media SaaS solution hosted in the AWS environment. The SaaS offering is intended to streamline global production by joining all elements of the process in the cloud, allowing for creative teams to collaborate seamlessly from anywhere in the world. A 24/7 and multi-tenant support strategy is required.
The Senior Systems Administrator MUST have hands-on experience managing, maintaining and monitoring a large infrastructure within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. Our infrastructure will consist of hundreds of instances, petabytes of storage and will consume dozens of AWS managed services. The number one objective of this role is to keep the infrastructure running in as efficient and performant manner as possible and to be able to respond to any incidents that threaten that goal. The ideal candidate will thrive on troubleshooting problems and identifying root causes. The epitome of success will be for this resource to automate EVERYTHING. Strong scripting skills are required!
In addition, he/she should be able to trend the infrastructure performance statistics (application log, security log, system log, CPU load, memory, disk space, network throughput) to make performance improvement recommendations.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience using CloudFormation templates to automate the provisioning and management of our various environments in an orderly and predictable fashion.
He/she has worked in a Scrum methodology environment and has an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Digital asset management, digital production, or digital distribution experience is preferred.
Responsibilities include the following:
· Automate all aspects of systems management through creative scripting
· Implement monitoring systems at all levels
· Add/Manage capacity as usage flexes
· Advise on hardware utilization and recommend changes when necessary
· Track the health of all of our services, identify problems, find root cause and fix
· Apply O/S patches
· Housekeeping Infrastructure
· Troubleshoot Infrastructure at all levels, from application to network to servers
· Run Reports for weekly admin meetings
· Tuning Infrastructure
· Infrastructure Testing/Benchmark
· Facilitate Production Code Deployment
· Supporting client on-boarding by advising on capacity needs
· Work with security/InfoSec to implement infrastructure security measures
· Review and approve firewall requests
· Build deployment scripts
· Work closely with EOL to gather operation support requirements for MCS.
· Work closely with the Technical Business Analyst to document SaaS operation support requirements, process flows, escalation policies and procedures, application and infrastructure monitoring
· Work with the technical lead, developers and business stakeholders to gather business requirements
Experience:
· Minimum 5 years of solid experience in overall systems and software support and maintenance in a mixed Windows and *NIX environment
· Minimum 3 years of direct experience administering infrastructure in AWS in a 24x7 support model
· Minimum 3 years of scripting in a Linux environment (in Perl, Ruby, bash, etc.)
· Minimum 3 years experience in sizing environments based on application requirements
· Digital asset management, digital production, or digital distribution or experience is preferred
· Experience with Aspera is preferred
· Experience with TCP/IP network troubleshooting and administration
Skills:
· Knowledge of systems management concepts (Windows, Linux/Unixserver). Hands-on experience with all of the following technologies:
· Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 (Workstation/Server)
· Unix - Sun Solaris / Linux
· Active Directory
· Experience in a large corporate global server environment is preferred.
· Experience in server migrations
· Proficient systems administration skills to include Windows, Linux servers, and/or Unix.
· File service and System concepts.
· Excellent problem solving and decision making
· Work effectively with team members, clients and other IT areas.
· Handle multiple tasks and must be flexible in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
· Perform after hours/on-call support as necessary.
· AWS infrastructure and support model
· Cloudwatch, CloudFormation, and Splunk
· Strong business analysis skills.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Ability to "think out-side the box"
· Ability to multi-task
· Proven ability to get things accomplished and working with others
· Focused on delivering results
