Job Title    :    SQL Server  DBA
Location    :     Richmond, VA
Duration    :     3 + months
Rate           :     $50/Hr

 

Position:
Database Administrator

 

Position Summary:
We are looking for a database administrator who has strong database administration experience to support our technology team in the maintaining high availability, rapid development of highly scalable and robust web applications,

 

data warehouses, and ETL processes.

 

As a member of the technology team:
Creates automated processes related to database administration, space management, security, monitoring, and performance
Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of database backup recovery processes
Master operational monitoring tools/technologies
Supports required application maintenance windows, and on call rotation function
Work with team lead to create development and support strategies for database systems

 

Technical Competencies:
2+ years experience in administering SQL Server 2008 in a production environment
4+ years experience in SQL Server administration, design, and development
Experience with using LiteSpeed (preferred)
Strong Analytical skills
Great communication skills to effectively work in a virtual team environment

Dedicated to meeting and exceeding customer expectations
Capable of managing time to meet goals
Adaptability and Open to Change
Take responsibility for quality and completeness of their work

 

Project Focus and Responsibilities:
Work with Application Development teams so that database changes adhere to best practices and are properly prioritized and scheduled
Ensure proper change management is followed
Monitoring production servers and mirroring in a HA environment
Monitor, manage and document backup routines
Monitor, manage and document jobs and schedules
Collaborate in architecting new solutions to meet changing businesses needs
