Position: Senior QA Test Lead Engineer
Location: Cambridge, MA
Duration: 3-6 month contract
Rate: Open
Responsibilities
Scope test timelines for all required test activities for a given project
Develop Test Plans/Strategies including the development of test cases from functional and non-functional requirements
Manage day-to-day responsibilities for the test project team
Communicate status and weekly metrics for the project
Development and execution of test cases
Defect submission and verification
Work closely with their development counterpart(s)
Manage the weekly/daily defect triage meeting
Responsible for testing from the front and backend of the application
Required Skills
At least five years of experience as a Test Lead
Strong knowledge writing SQL queries
Strong knowledge working in a UNIX and/or Linux environments
Some experience with scripting languages like Perl, Python to design and build test tools
Experience working in an Iterative or Agile SCRUM SDLC methodology
Experience working in small to midsized product development companies
Experience in installations, retrieval of source code from source control systems and troubleshooting down to the application layer
Understanding of N-Tier Architecture
Ability to think through and document multiple (potential) test scenarios with their corresponding test cases
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
At least 5 – 8 years experience in software testing and at least 5 years as a test lead role
Strong understanding of the SDLC and how testing fits within the lifecycle
Strong understanding of testing in the proper sequence including unit, integration, systems, regression and final acceptance
Experience with test plan/strategy development and defect triage management
Experience with test case/ script development, definition of expected results, execution and defect tracking for multiple phases of testing
Experienced developing and executing a full spectrum of tests on multiple applications in varied technical environments
Nice to Haves:
Experience testing mobile devices
Experience with tools such as JIRA and performance testing with JMeter
Experience testing at the API level
Soft Skills:
Ability to work in a dynamic environment
Ability to reach out and find dependent information
Ability to negotiate project requirements with project management and development
Must be a Self Starter
Excellent communication skills (Test plan development, status, project test metrics, test case development, defect submission and ability to articulate issues to the project team)
