Job Description:
The Datastage Developer/Decision Support Analyst develops Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) reporting applications along with Enterprise Reporting.
This role is a combination of new development and maintenance/support.
This individual plays a key role in defining end-user reporting principles, guidelines and methodologies that serve as a framework for effective interface design to meet reporting objectives. The Decision Support Analyst collaborates with the EDW team and stakeholders to ensure expectations are managed and ensure requirements are met. The Decision Support Analyst is responsible for: designing, building, testing and supporting reporting interfaces associated with each EDW initiative. The Decision Support Analyst works closely with the EDW project team members and stakeholders to assist in defining interface requirements as well as analytical reporting requirements. To facilitate the use of end-user reporting tools, the Decision Support Analyst works closely with members of the EDW Organization and the Data Council to define guidelines and develop standards for end-user reporting development. The Decision Support Analyst is expected to contribute to the technical components of these guidelines and standards. This individual keeps abreast of upgrades to existing software tools to ensure that the reports being delivered are of the highest quality available.

Responsibilities:
Participated in discussion with the business users and business analysts to gather the report requirements for identifying the Dimension and Fact tables there by eliminating the unused tables.
Develop both Server and Parallel Jobs in DataStage Designer to Extract data from the Sources SQL Server, AS/400 and Complex Flat Files to Staging tables, Transform it by applying business rules and Load (Initial & Incremental) it into Delimited Files and Target DWH (EDW/Datamarts) SQL Server 2000/2008.
Migrated all the jobs from Windows installed DataStage 7.5.2 to AIX installed InfoSphere DataStage 8.1.1.
Use Range Lookup to break the Complex Queries into simple Queries thereby improving the performance of jobs by utilizing DataStage Parallel Engine efficiently.
Used Job Compare option to compare the jobs within the same project as well as cross projects for efficient job design.
Applied various techniques in DataStage jobs to enhance their performance.
Improved the server version jobs performance by using/removing the Hash files, In Process and Inter Process settings, Link Partitioner, Link Collector and IPC stages.
For Parallel jobs, configured the multiple nodes and used parallel engine capacity efficiently as well as designed a master sequence to run multiple jobs in parallel.
Developed Sequences to run Dimensions and Facts and also developed a Master Sequence to run the entire project.
Unit tested the jobs (for inserts, updates & rejects) in Dev environment by running them in DataStage Director and also verifying the job logs for warnings & errors.
Exported the jobs from Development to Test environment using DataStage Designer (8.1.1) and Manager (7.5.2).
Wrote SQL scripts on EDW and Data Mart Tables to validate the data results by counting the number of rows, Compare the data between Prod & QA tables.
Developed Shell Scripts to automate the file manipulation and data loading procedures.
Exported the jobs from Test to Production
