Application Developer – Database Lead

 

As an AD Database Lead  you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of data objects, including logical and physical data models, packages, procedures, and advanced SQL queries.  You will also assist the development team in refining and tuning packages and procedures used in the applications.  You will also support the production environment by identifying root cause for critical system issues to ensure timely resolution and minimize impact to the business partner.

 

For Development activities, you will participate in project planning sessions with the business analysts, and team members to analyze Business requirements.  For each project, you will translate business and technical requirements into data models and database packages/procedures. You will provide design recommendations and develop and integrate data models and database packages/procedures per written specifications.  Additionally, you will develop and test these items using disciplined software development processes. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role Description:

·         The AD Database Lead will be required to work together with the AD Development Leads during the technical analysis, design, and build process.

·         The AD Database Lead will be responsible for the writing of accurate technical specification documents and database models/code to create software that meets the requirements of the Technical Design document. The AD Database Lead is accountable for delivering agreed specifications documents and software to the required dates.

·         The AD Database Lead will be responsible for working with code migration resources to deploy database objects  into downstream environments (QA, UAT, Production, DR) using the JPMC change control tools/standards.

·         The AD Database Lead will be responsible for responding to and resolving any defects found during testing in an efficient and timely manner.

·         The AD Database Lead will be required to escalate to the Application Development Managers or Leads any issues or constraints encountered that could affect the project deliverables or timetable.

 

CORE ACTIVITES:

As an AD Database Lead you will be expected to conduct the following activities:

Design

-         Prepare and understand the Technical Design documents and to produce logical and physical data models as well as package/procedure specification documents.

 

Coding

-         The AD Database Lead will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of database objects based on project schedules and the PLC process.

-         The AD Database Lead will be required to design new or modify database objects to meet the Technology guidelines for architecture strategy and component re-use.

 

Testing

-         The AD Database Lead will be required to work directly with Project Management and QA/UAT teams to provide support and defect resolution in a timely basis to ensure project milestones are achieved.

 

Implementation

-         The AD Database Lead may be required to provide out of hours coverage to support software implementations or Production Support issues such as the Application Development Manager/Lead requires.

 

Qualifications

·         7+ years experience in application development

·         5+ years experience with either Oracle or SQL Server as a data modeler and/or SQL Programmer

·         Proven experience with data modeling including normalization, logical and physical designs, and performance tuning.

·         Proven experience with SQL programming in either PL/SQL or T-SQL.  This should include strong understanding of SQL as well as SQL programming within packages and procedures.

·         Experience working in a software development life cycle environment

·         Knowledge and experience in Technology including various architectures, languages, tools and applications

·         Team player.

·         Have a positive approach to work and to fellow team members.

·         Superior attention to detail/root cause analysis

·         Ability to -own- issues to ensure appropriate resolution

·         Ability to absorb & present complex ideas quickly & accurately.

·         Ability to provide solutions within aggressive deadline.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Technical Knowledge:

·         Oracle 10g/11g and/or SQL Server 2005 or higher

·         General SQL knowledge as well as PL/SQL or T-SQL programming extensions

·         DBA tools such as TOAD or SQL Navigator

·         SVN or Microsoft Visual Source Safe

·         Microsoft Team Foundation Server
