Responsibilities The Oracle DBA is primarily responsible for the installation, upgrade, maintenance, tuning, daily operations, and backups of the Corporate Oracle databases. Part of the responsibilities includes working with the systems administrator to determine storage, growth and usage. Also work with the application developers in performing physical and logical design reviews. Working in a team environment and creating standard operating procedures and service level agreements.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
• Installing and upgrading of Oracle databases, Performance tuning, and database administration on Unix, a plus would be experience with MS SQL server.
• Task would include allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system. Work with developers on design, creating and change primary objects (tables, views, indexes, etc.) for application databases.
• Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers.
• Enrolling users and maintaining system security for the databases, ensuring compliance with company standards, Controlling and monitoring user access to the database, Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database.
• Database Administration on Unix platform
• Write and maintain Unix shell scripts related to database administration
• Provide on-call support during off hours
• Troubleshoots systems, and applications to identify and correct database problems.
• Administer RDBMS tools.
• Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
• Keeps abreast of technical developments and Information Systems trends by self-study and participation in courses, seminars and conferences.
• Transfer knowledge to coworkers through development of procedures and documentation of all Oracle products.
• Assist Application Administrators when their tasks require database work.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties and projects as assigned.
• Review / modify the existing PL/SQL programs based on the requirement
• Develop new PL/SQL programs
