Primary Business Analyst with Cluster and Data Warehouse Detailed JD
Job Description Generic Job Description The Business Analyst (BA) will be required to: - Understand and analyze business requirements in discussions with business users.
- Provide business and functional solutions at application level for the business requirements.
- Create specification documents, primarily Business Requirement documents and Functional Specification documents.
- Participate, along with colleagues from the Ops/Dev. team, in discussions with business users on the planning and prioritization of change requests.
- Manage expectations of business users.
- Assist the Dev. team in performing application impact assessment and do-ability analysis from a functional point of view.
- Support queries from business users and production support on application functionality.
- Assist Dev. team with answers and clarifications to questions on application and change functionality.
- Provide need-based training to Dev. team on application / change functionality and impact.
Specific Job Description and Ecosystem for Business Analyst for Equities IT (app: Data Warehouse) - The Business Analyst positions for the Equities IT cluster (app: Data Warehouse) are located at Stamford, CT and London, UK.
- The incumbent will be required to perform BA functions as described above in the context of:
- Asset Class: Equities (Cash and Derivatives).
- Principal functionalities: Execution Cost Analysis (ECA), Trade Surveillance, and Regulatory Reporting.
- The business user community consists of back-office and middle-office representatives.
- Team consists of onsite colleagues in:
- Project Management.
- Production Support and Dev. functions at Stamford (CT), London (UK) and Singapore.
- Dev. team based in India
Candidate Profile Generic Competencies The ideal candidate should possess: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership and managerial capabilities:
- Ability to plan and prioritize tasks in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead the team in facing off to business
- Ability to communicate and set expectations – e.g., in relation to deadlines, risks, issues and targets.
- A proven track record of having analyzed and documented complex business requirements on the domain areas mentioned in the Job Description.
- A proven track record of having worked on applications of significant size, breadth of functionality, and functional complexity.
- Experience of having worked in large investment banking / trading and compliance environment.
- Experience of independently handling stakeholder interactions (particularly business users) in trading environments.
- Experience of working with a geographically distributed team.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and practices, along with MS-Excel.
Specific skill-set: The BA for Equities IT cluster (app: DWH) should have the following skills / attributes: - 8+ years of experience as a BA
- Domain knowledge (Equities – Cash and Derivatives), and extensive business analysis experience with thorough understanding of functional flows in:
- Execution cost analysis
- Compliance – knowledge of Equity trading compliance rules in US/Europe (depending on the location of the BA).
- Data Analyst capabilities: Able to work with large data (on databases and standard messaging formats e.g., FIX, WORM) and understand, manipulate and write complex SQL queries.
