Position: Linux Admin

Location: Bloomington, IL

Duration: 4+ months

 

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES - SUMMARY

·        Experienced in high-level and low-level design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure and hosting platforms

·        Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service; cloud computing models

·        Experienced in both design/development of solutions as well as operations/support

·        Experience leading small cross-functional teams

·        Experience with designing and maintaining multi-site active systems preferred

·        Experience working in a highly-collaborative environment with a large, cross-functional span of responsibility

 

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCES DETAILS

·        Broad server hardware/OS experience (x86-based, virtualized infrastructures)

·        Experience with virtual machine provisioning and lifecycle management (VMware experience preferred

·        Experience with Linux, specifically deployment and management (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)

·        Experience with high-level storage architecture (SAN and NAS)

 

Application Development, Testing and Release Management

·        Familiar with Software Development Lifecycle and associated tooling

·        Experience with release management

·        Experience with test environment management

·        Java development familiarity preferred

 

Application Hosting experience

·        Segmentation/isolation and multi-tenant architecture design familiarity

·        Experience with Java application/service hosting (VMware tcserver preferred)

·        Workload management familiarity

 

Middleware/integration experience

·        Experience with message routing and transformation (mule ESB experience preferred)

·        Service infrastructure familiarity (IBM WSRR preferred)

·        Data movement/transformation familiarity

 

Experience with core IT Service Management disciplines

·        Experience with creating assessment and certification criteria (e.g. architecture/environmental governance)

·        Experience with application/system logging, health and performance monitoring

·        Experience with service lifecycle management

 

High-level familiarity with data hosting and design

·        Structured and unstructured data hosting familiarity

·        Distributed cache familiarity

 

Broad telecommunications familiarity

·        Core networking familiarity

·        Network acceleration familiarity

·        Experienced with local and global load balancing designs and concerns

 

High-level familiarity with Security and Identity Management

·        Access management familiarity

·        Infrastructure Protection familiarity

·        Core firewall familiarity (layer 4 & layer 7)

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES - SUMMARY

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Excellent at technical coordination, issue resolution, and solution design

·        Experience with technical process architecture and engineering

·        Experience with the "full lifecycle" of technical infrastructure including high-level and low-level design, implementation, and operations

·        Leading small cross-functional teams to scope work, define solutions, and drive results

·        Experience working in a highly-collaborative environment with a large, cross-functional span of responsibility

·        Broad experience with technical infrastructure technologies including telecommunications, and distributed client/server application hosting technologies

·        Familiar with the software development lifecycle and challenges (not critical that the candidate have recent development experience, but beneficial - specifically JAVA and Spring framework)

·        Familiar with Service Oriented Infrastructure concepts and technologies, specifically enterprise service bus (e.g. Mule)

·        Solid understanding of ITIL/ IT Service Management fundamentals

·         Experienced in managing technical QA/test environments and familiar with QA/test strategy
