Introduction
Our Client is seeking a consulting resource to full fill the role of Microsoft Data Integrator (MDI) for their project. The selected candidate (the MDI resource) will be tasked with using SQL Server Integration Services to integrate data from many diverse sources into a coherent data store.
The goal of the project is to display crucial information in a clear and concise manner for making key decisions. The primary audience is our client's senior management.
The technology stack is entirely made of Microsoft products: SSIS, SQL Server, SSAS, SharePoint 2010 along with Performance Point Services, Excel Services, Visio Services, and Reporting Services.

Job Description: The MDI resource will be responsible for
1. Designing and developing the SSIS scripts for integrating the data from diverse data sources into the project's data store. There are about ten areas of content that will be added incrementally. Each content area may have multiple and diverse data sources. The MDI resource will be responsible for the design, implementation, and validation of the scripts that translate the data from a source.
2. Designing and implementing the schema for the client's SQL Server data base. The schema will evolve as each area of content is added. The MDI resource will be responsible for designing and evolving the schema as the contents are added.
3. Managing the connections and calculations between the raw data and the visualization.
4. Working effectively with the subject manner experts and the project team.
5. Writing detailed design documentation of all the tasks mentioned above: the schema design, data connections, and ETL scripts.
6. The MDI resource will be asked on occasion to help with the visualization of the data. The graphs and charts (visualization) will be displayed in SharePoint. The MDI resource will work closely with the team member responsible for the visualization.
7. The MDI resource will be asked on occasion to help with the multi-dimensional aspects of the data. The imported data is refactored into a cube using SSAS (SQL Server Analytics Services). The MDI resource should be able to help out when needed in the analytics part of the data management.

Engagement Deliverables
The MDI resource will be expected to work on site
The MDI resource will be expected to:
1) Develop the SSIS scripts for all content requirements.
2) Develop consistent error handling, logging, and error notifications.
3) Design and implement data sources for the data providers, if the source is not available in a format that is importable.
4) Teach the in-house developers how to effectively design and implement integration.
5) Develop subsequent content areas.
6) Test and deploy

The MDI resource will work closely with our client's technical team and project manager to build and execute the plan.
Specifically the deliverables are:

- Schema design and implementation for project's data store
- SSIS scripts and workflows to connect a variety of external and heterogeneous data sources to project's data store.
- Connections between the raw data and the derived data presented in the visualization layer.
- Providing the Meta Data that describes the actual data
- Design documentation for all of the above.
- Weekly status reports
- Test plans for all of the above
- Work closely with the Enterprise Architect on the Data Warehouse and Operational Data Store project.

The MDI resource should have the following qualifications:
• Significant experience in the SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Significant experience in Extract Transfer and Load best practices.
• Significant experience in SQL Server schema and query design.
• Significant experience developing SQL queries.
• Significant experience with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 development.
• Experience in Microsoft's PerformancePoint or SharePoint 2010 BI
• Experience with data warehouse and operational data stores.
• Experience in Oracle database design, and experience connecting databases of different kinds to each other.
• Experience with software development cycle, development, testing, and deployment.
• Experience with software security, authentication and authorization.
• Familiarity of ITIL process.
• Ability to provide detailed, customized technical documentation
• Ability to train others on the skills needed to implement, support, monitor, and maintain the project's database.
