Job Description
We are in search of a hands-on quality assurance engineer with strong testing background and strong automation experience for our client in North Hollywood, CA.
This position SPECIFICALLY requires expert experience in testing Video Platforms across multpile devices (Computers, Mobile Phones, Tablets, Game Consoles, Connected TV's Etc......). This QA Engineer will be responsiblel for writing test cases test plans, performing and directing functional/integration/regression testing, scripting, and implementing a wide variety of automated testing solutions using variou tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review business requirements to prepare test plans / test cases
• Evaluate and report testing status and Results
• Identify applications higher risk and more important aspects. Set priorities. Determine scope and limitations of testing.
• Experience writing and executing tests using a formal automated test tool like QTP, Selenium or Test Complete.
• MUST be capable of designing and coding test scripts using batch files or shellscripts.
• Experience with testing consumer/public facing web sites
• Administer QA servers (Windows and Linux) and setup virtual QA environments when needed.
• Conduct Database testing and created complex SQL scripts
• Use Linux skills to conduct code deployments, setup testing, and debug logs.
• Administer Proxies, Web Caching and F5 for QA Environments
• Create Linux shell scripts to automate repetitive deployment steps.
• Develop strong cooperative relationships with development / product management teams and other stakeholders.
• Experience with load testing concepts (to be used to coordinate with performance testing team)
• Coordinate with the performance testing team to create and execute load tests
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience required
• 5 or more years of applicable experience (software testing and test case development, scripting, and analysis)
• Experience scripting in a formal programming language (Java, Python, Ruby, etc.) and applying it to real work assignments
• Experience in client-side performance testing for bandwidth performance
• Experience in testing video platforms
• Experience testing DRM
• Experience in E-commerce testing and validation of third-parties
• Experience writing and executing test automation scripts
• Must be experienced in Agile working methods (Certification is a plus)
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
Technical Skills
• Able to work in Windows, Linux, and Mac environments
• Expert troubleshooting skills
• Strong familiarity and experience with application log analysis
• Prior experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML
• Proficient in a formal programming language such Perl, Java, Ruby, Python, etc.
• Familiarity with application load, stress, and performance testing concepts. (previous hands-on execution of load tests is a plus)
• Knowledge and experience with common testing methodologies and their application
Business Skills
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Basic math and statistical analysis skills
• Detail oriented with strong organizational Skills
• Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
• Strong ability to switch between multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
• Capable of leading offshore testing resources if projects require it
