Job title: SAN Engineer

Job Purpose:
Under general direction, configures, implements, and manages the on-going operations of the enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN); designs and configures storage infrastructure for physical and virtual servers, ensuring high-availability to all applications; integrates backup/restore operations with current and future SANs, and proactively manages the efficiency, reliability, and business continuity of client computer technology infrastructure.
Duties:
• Perform connectivity of host systems to the SAN, inclusive of SAN switch connectivity, HBA configuration, LUN creation and presentation
• Perform disk array management, capacity planning and overall health monitoring inclusive of the SAN switch and disk array sub-system
• Perform daily management of the backup environment to ensure backups are accurate and completing within the backup window
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of reported problems with SAN connected systems
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience performing SAN and backup administration for a network of multiple platform systems, with an emphasis on EMC or IBM family of storage and backup products
• Thorough knowledge of EMC storage arrays, with experience on DMX, VMAX, Celerra and Centerra
• Thorough knowledge of Cisco SAN switches, with zoning, configuration and management experience on 9500 family of switches
• Thorough knowledge of EMC or IBM storage tools, such as SRDF, ECC, TPC
• Working knowledge of IBM storage arrays, with experience on DS, SVC and N-series systems
• Working knowledge of Brocade SAN switches
• Working knowledge of Windows, Solaris, AIX and Linux operating systems as it relates to mounting and managing LUN’s, HBA configuration and backup agents
• Thorough knowledge of multi-pathing and volume management software such as MPIO and PowerPath.
• Thorough knowledge of EMC Avamar or Networker backup environments
• Thorough knowledge of IT change management and project management processes
• Thorough knowledge of current IT technologies for SAN environments
• Troubleshooting skills necessary to investigate root causes of abstract problems and implement solutions

1) Describe your experience designing, implementing and administering NetApp or EMC enterprise storage systems.
2) Describe your experience working with enterprise backup technology as it relates to corporate applications (i.e. SAP, databases, Microsoft Exchange, etc.)
