Job Description
· Position Requirements
- BS in an IT-related discipline or equivalent of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a networking role
- Proficiency with Cisco networking systems
- Strong, senior level, technical, data center knowledge and experience that includes
· Proficiency in Window/Linux servers
· Distributed application design
· Inter-process communication and protocols
· Installation/ configuration of any network appliance (firewall, router, switch, load balancer) with a particular emphasis on Cisco and F5 equipment
· Extensive data center LAN design
· Experience in Cisco UCS strongly recommended
· Experience in a variety of network diagnostic and monitoring hardware and software tools
· Proficient in sniffer technology and in reading/ analyzing traces to the resolution of inter-process communication
· Proven ability to lead and carry out the troubleshooting of data center network issues
· Ability and willingness to respond to P1 conditions on a 24x7 basis
· Tenacity and critical thinking needed to resolve real time distributed application issues
· Strong verbal communication skills
· Demonstrable experience in technical writing skills
· Strong interpersonal skills needed to constructively work with vendors, peers, managers and customers
· Knowledge about NetApp storage recommended
Position Responsibilities:
Production data center LAN/WAN:
· Architect new environments and changes to existing environments.
· Monitor the network functions on a daily basis.
· Carry out capacity planning.
· Install network appliances.
· Diagnose and remediate distributed application outages and performance issues.
· Specialize in load balancer, router and switching infrastructure support.
· Provide data networking (routing and switching) skills to the organization. (may include routing support for rip, eigrp, ospf, bgp, hsrp, vrrp. May also include layers 1 and 2 such as ppp, hdlc, ipsec).
· Support network infrastructure including servers, routers, switches, firewalls and IPS/IDS.
· Perform application impact analysis. Analyze the application traffic patterns and determine the impact to production links using tools like wireshark, syslog, MRTG etc.
· Create and support QOS (Quality of Service) on the Network.
· Provide maintenance, support and documentation as required.
