Position: Oracle Database Architect
Location: Topeka, KS
Duration: 6 months
Rate: $70 phr on C2C
Client is seeking an Oracle Database Architect to join their technical team. This position, located in Topeka, KS, will support the Enterprise Database & Technical Teams for developing a load balancing process and database architecture.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Research, benchmark, document and introduce new database technologies and features into the application life cycle.
Research and apply the best business practices for the design and administration of the databases.
Create and maintain standard database policies, operating procedures, and overall documentation.
Participate in IT and business projects that define the database system's requirements.
Recommend technology solutions.
Conduct and participate in the data model walkthrough.
Conduct and participate in the data analysis sessions to validate and provide recommendations.
Collaborate with the application developers, business owners, and the Application and Technical architects in the design and implementation.
Implement proactive database performance monitoring, fine tuning, and optimize database systems.
Design and develop data security system to ensure safety of Agency's application information.
Preparation or development multi-dimensional databases.
Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Design, implement, maintain, and consolidate database systems across the agency enterprise network.
Support the agency business applications.
Conduct database capacity and availability audits.
Provide expertise in Data Warehousing, Datamarts and Data Integration as they interact with other applications.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience with database design, DB architecture, DB security, Data Model Design and administration.
At least 5 years of experience in Complex projects involving Oracle 10g and 11g Database technology.
At least 5 years of experience in Architecture design and implementation of database solutions including Oracle 10g, 11g RAC and Data Guard.
At least 3 years of experience in Implementing database migration solutions across a variety of platforms for Oracle databases.
At least 3 years of experience in Multiple platforms on which Oracle databases reside such as AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, Mainframe etc.
In-depth expert knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture, and operations with specialization in Oracle DB and its tools.
Experience with Oracle tools like TOAD etc.
Experience with Reporting Services(Oracle, SQL Server Cognos etc.).
Experience with Database Server clusters, database performance tuning, database monitoring, and database backup/recovery.
Experience with Data Warehousing and Datamart technologies.
Experience in facilitating Data Base & Data Model Walkthrough sessions.
Experience migrating between different types of database technologies, e.g., migrating Oracle databases to SQL Server databases.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Other qualifications include: the ability to quickly adapt to new environment, a strong commitment to a team environment, a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies as an Database Architect, the ability to de-conflict requests/requirements, and the ability to establish, maintain, and follow documented processes and procedures.
