Test Engineer I
Job Description
Driver Pack Configuration Engineer to build deployment packages of drivers to be used with PC Manageability software in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
· Build "HP Driver Pack" packages containing Windows OS drivers for HP PC platforms. Optimize Driver Packages to reduce size.
· Execute test plans pertaining to driver installation on PCs notebooks, desktops, and workstations.
· Provide timely status reports of build progress.
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge (Must have background in three or more of these areas.)
Experience in Windows INF-based driver installation, troubleshooting errors including yellow bangs, and optimizing driver package size.
Knowledge in Enterprise IT processes for PC life cycle management, including image deployment, image maintenance, health monitoring and alerting.
Knowledgeable in technical subject matter such as PC architecture, PC firmware, PC device drivers, trusted platform module, and the concepts of BIOS domain.
Experience in performing hardware installs (Memory, hard drives, motherboards, etc).
Knowledge on PXE environments, familiar with BIOS flashing processes, networking skills (Connect to Networks, Servers, Ipconfig),and/or Virtual Machine experience is a plus.
1-3 years hands on experience with Microsoft deployment consoles including SMS, SCCM 2007, SCUP, SCOM, and MDT.
Experience troubleshooting deployment issues with Microsoft deployment consoles.
3+ years of QA Test experience in the PC industry. Experience in Test Plan development is a plus.
Experience using industry standard client management solutions including Symantec (Altiris), LANDesk, etc. is a plus.
Develop and/or review (internal and external) technical documentation experience is a plus.
Skills:
Ability to work with a diverse team — must be a team player. Comfortable training other testers.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills in order to generate creative/innovative solutions
Keen attention to details and accuracy. Very good planning, organization, and facilitation skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical documentations. Able to communicate with assurance and confidence.
Demonstrates a use of strong questioning, listening, reading and writing skills.
Comfortable providing demo of technologies responsible for testing.
Has proficiency in Windows OS (XP, Vista, Win7)

Job Description
Test Engineer to develop test plans and scripts for PC software in a team-oriented environment. Lead a small team of Software Testers.
Responsibilities
• Perform engineering analysis of software functionality, test plan and test script development, and test automation. Convert functional specifications into efficient test plans.
• Interface with R&D development team to understand requirements and improve SW test effectiveness.
• Actively participate in developing & improving existing testing technologies, including methods, approaches & execution.
• Perform high-value ad hoc testing and set up of complicated test configurations. Suggests test direction & provides status reports of tested software.
• Provide leadership, direction and strategy on technical issues.
• Responsible for and manage timely, quality test deliverables.
• Involved in the investigation & resolution of problems
• Manages small - medium projects and teams of technicians or test/development
• Operate as a SW Test/Release Lead and oversee activities of other SW Test/Release leads.
o Lead complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling and extensive troubleshooting; provide in-depth defect characterization.
o Provide mentoring/guidance to SW technicians and test engineering leads.
• Recommend/manage test process improvements
• Maintain good relationships with client and teams customers.
• Promote strong communication.
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge (Must have background in one or more of these areas.):
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study, with 3- 6 years related experience or equivalent.
• At least one computer programming language as well as a scripting language.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio, DDK, Web SW development tools a plus.
• MCSE for WinXP/Server 2003 or 2008 is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of PC architecture, Windows Operating Systems, PC firmware, PC device drivers.
• Knowledge of test processes and test case development
• Experience with automated test script development
Skills:
• Leadership qualities (e.g., integrity, sense of urgency, goal oriented, motivator, etc.)
• Ability to work with a diverse team — must be a team player.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills in order to generate creative/innovative solutions.
• Strong project management skills.
• Keen attention to details and accuracy.
• Very good planning, organization, and facilitation skills.
• Effective communication skills in English. Chinese language skills a plus.
