Linux System Administrator responsible for executing daily service delivery of planning, organizing, evaluating, troubleshooting, installing and tuning of multiple large Linux systems in a centralized data center environment
Skills:
1.     Strong knowledge of OS fundaments on Latest and Legacy Redhat Linux.
2.    Work experience in HP servers.
3.     Patch and package management using YUM and up2date.
4.    Experience in server build and migration.
5.    PXE kick start installation server configuration.
6.    Work experience in oracle RAC with respect to Linux admin tasks.
7.     Deep knowledge in volume management (LVM, Veritas).
8.    Experience in RHN satellite server configuration and administration.
9.    Experience in Redhat cluster.
10.    Experience in Multipathing configuration and administration.
11.    Experience in Linux P2V conversion tools.
12.    Backup tool installation and configuration (Veritas Netbakcup, HP and etc.,)
13.     Experience writing scripts and procedures for day-to-day operations.
14.     Solid concepts on NFS, performance monitoring utilities and other core UNIX commands.
15.    Experience in samba and FTP configuration and management.
16.    Printer administration and management.
17.    Redhat License management.
18.    Experience in kernel up-gradation.
19.     SAN experience in a multi-fabric, multi-path fiber channel environment.
20.     Disaster recovery experience including data replication technologies.
21.      Experience on Virtualization.
22.    Experience in handling startup scripts.
23.     Knowledge of IP tables and server securities.
24.    Linux audit server configuration.
25.    Quota and acl configuration and administration.
26.     Strong Networking fundamentals and interface configurations.
27.     User management and OS Hardening.
28.    Documentation experience (Run book, startup and shutdown).
29.    Strong understanding and comprehension of ITIL fundamentals.
Job Description
1.    Installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of Linux operating systems, related utilities and hardware.
2.    Responsible for troubleshooting Linux based hardware and software problems.
3.    Monitors systems activities and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems.
4.    Performs capacity analysis, monitors and controls usage of disk space.
5.    Develops procedures for routine admin including backup/restore, shutdown & start-up.
6.    Provides recommendations for improving the server environment, such as capacity thresholds, security gap, patch levels and hardware recalls.
7.    Work with Command Centre, Service desk team for issue resolution & problem management.
8.    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9.    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10.    Ability to effectively work on and prioritize multiple concurrent jobs.
11.    Self-motivation and team-player attitude.
12.    Coordinate with service provider for issues and incidents related to critical Server outages, SEV 1 issues and RCA.
13.    Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation.
14.    Experience in ITIL process.
