Job Description:

 Work Expectations/Duties

·         Hands on coding and design using Java technologies

Ø  Able to design and implement software systems using Java technologies

·         Day to day coordination with an offshore team.

Ø  Prioritize work for the team.

Ø  Collect updates and status of tasks on a daily basis

Ø  Resolve blocking issues and technical clarifications

Ø  Guide and mentor the offshore resources as required

Ø  Provide clarifications on a daily basis

Ø  Work with offshore development and QA teams.

·         Day to day coordination with clients.

Ø  Validate requirements, scope and clarifications with the client

Ø  Report status and priorities to clients.

Ø  Build a close relationship with key client personnel.

Ø  Resolve the offshore team's technical and functional clarifications with the client.

Ø  Problem solving with clients and team members.

Ø  Setup and customize onsite-offshore delivery process (methodology) for the team (including development and QA teams)

·         Other Duties

Ø  Ensure streamlined communication between the client and the team. Take ownership of communication as required.

Ø  Ownership of timelines and quality of deliverables.

Ø  Ensure that all code conforms to best practices and standards.

Ø  Overall leadership of the technical team.

Ø  Must be able to estimate, prioritize and assign work to team members as most appropriate.

 

Required Skills/Experience

·         At least 10 years of hands-on software development and design experience

·         At least 4 years of experience directly managing and coordinating offshore teams

·         Hands-on coding experience with the following technologies (Mandatory)

Ø  At least 7 years of coding experience with Java, Servlets, Spring

Ø  Hands on experience working with Java frameworks including log4j and hibernate

Ø  Hands on experience implementing Web services with Java - Apache CXF preferred

·         At least some hands on experience with MySQL database development (schema and table design, queries, stored procedures, etc)

·         Hands on experience implementing and working with the following general concepts (mandatory):

Ø  Design and architecture patterns

Ø  Performance testing (unit level testing)

Ø  Code quality and quality measurements

Ø  Software development processes

·         Should be an excellent team player with strong  skills around:

Ø  Communication skills

Ø  Offshoring skills

Ø  Client Facing skills

 

Optional Skills/Experience

·         Hands on experience with Perl would be a major advantage.
