POSITION OUTLINE:
·          New Role: Oracle Exadata DBA ·          Duration: 5-6 Months Start Date: 1st August, 2013 Locations: Colorado Springs, CO Working Hours: 40 hours per week with pre-approved overtime o    Colorado Springs PM: 7am-4pm MT but may flex based on project requirements ·          Travel: Occasional based on project requirements
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Individual should have strong hands-on Database administration of Oracle databases on Exadata. The DBA must have expertise and experience in Oracle Exadata administration, patching, tuning and high availability data bases. Expertise in Oracle, Real Application Cluster (RAC), ASM, Data Guard, Grid Control/OEM & ASM/Storage area is preferred. Should be well versed in SAN topology and have previous experience with all aspects of designing/implementing Exadata solutions.  The person must have strong verbal and written communication skills as he/she will be involved directly for customer interaction as well as developing processes/procedures for Ops team that can be easily followed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.       Design, install, configure, upgrade, maintain, backup, recover, tune and monitor Oracle databases
2.       Exadata Database Machine administration
3.       Oracle 11g RAC, ASM  RMAN, Partitioning , and Data Guard Disaster Recovery
4.       Database backup and Recovery planning and implementation
5.       Installation, Configuration, and patching Exadata and Oracle 11g
6.    Software and firmware maintenance of the Database servers in the Database machine including upgrades and patching
7.    Software and firmware maintenance of the Exadata storage servers in the Database machine including upgrades and patching 8.
9.    Software and firmware maintenance of the InfiniBand switches in the Database machine including upgrades and patching
10.  Provide and implement performance and tuning recommendations of all components in the Database machines
11.  Advise, provide guidance and develop Disaster Recovery strategies for these Database machines
12.  Configure the machines to meet customer specific security requirements
13.  Develop and record processes/procedures for all potential IT downstream support groups to maintain and upgrade the Database machines.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS : (Key outcomes on which success on the job can be measured)
Delivery of assigned projects within agreed upon timelines, in-scope, and within approved budget
Timely completion of status reporting and project tracking updates
Open projects list of assigned projects does not exceed accepted threshold
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION | WORK EXPERIENCE | SKILLS
Educational Qualification: Minimum Requirements :
·          Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) (4 yr) from an accredited University in computer science/networking/IT.
Work Experience: Minimum Work Ex. Required
5+ Years of DBA experience with preferably 2+ years hands on experience on Exadata Strong production support experience Proven track record in supporting large number of db simultaneously
Technical Skills and Capabilities (Primary - Must have) :
Oracle 11g database installation and administration experience Oracle Exadata V2 Strong communication skill
Technical Skills and Capabilities (Secondary - Nice to have):
Familiarity with Dataguard & Exalogic
